There was a pneumonia outbreak at the Dumb Friends League in April and that haltered dog adoptions. The outbreak has been cleared up and dog adoptions have now resumed.
Dumb Friends League
The Dumb Friends League will resume dog adoptions Tuesday after a four-week freeze. The shelter suspended intake and adoptions in April after five dogs died in a pneumonia outbreak.
"We wouldn't be resuming adoption operations if we thought there was an increased risk to the community," Bob Rohde, president and CEO of the Dumb Friends League, said in a news release.

There is a new addition at the Denver Zoo! The zoo has welcomed a two-year-old North American river otter named Ahanu (Ah-hah-new) to be a companion for long-time resident male Otto.
Denver Zoo
Ahanu was born at California's Oakland Zoo in February 2011 and arrived at Denver Zoo in March 2013. His arrival has brought a youthful energy to the exhibit and he has been a playful pal for 15-year-old Otto. Otto's long-time yard mate, Ariel, died of age-related symptoms in October 2012 at almost 19-years-old. North American river otters live an average of 20 years of age in zoos.
Denver Zoo
Otters play more than most wild animals. They have been observed wrestling, chasing other otters, diving for rocks and clamshells, swimming with pebbles or other small objects balanced on their noses, toying with live prey and sliding down mud banks or snow banks. "Play" activities actually serve a purpose – they are used to strengthen social bonds, practice hunting techniques and scent mark territories.
According to the people at Walk Score, Denver ranks No. 3 on the 10 most bikeable large U.S. and Canadian cities list. Denver fell behind Portland, Ore., which topped the list at No. 1, and San Francisco, Calif., which was named the second most "bikeable city."
The list is based on factors such as bike lanes, hills, intersection density, average block length, the number of bikers on the road and other bicycle infrastructure.
DIA was ranked ninth on the list of the "World's Best Airports" over 50 million passengers per year, the largest category of passenger traffic. DIA is the only airport in the United States to make the top-10 global list. Skytrax also named DIA third among the "Best Airports in North America."
"Denver International Airport strives to provide a world-class passenger experience in all aspects, from offering local and national flavors at our concessions to providing great customer service and flights to more than 180 destinations around the world," said Manager of Aviation Kim Day. "We're proud to have been recognized by our passengers as one of the greatest airports in the world."
"So here, it goes," she said introducing in a taped segment, reviewing her career, starting with the Today show in 1961, when she was an on-air reporter and writer. She stayed for 15 years, which was surprising, she said because "I wasn't beautiful like many of the women on the program before me, I had trouble pronouncing my R's, I still do." She said she got the category for women on TV changed from "Today girls" to "co-hosts."

Berries Bite-size bundles of antioxidants and fiber, berries defend against chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. These antioxidants, including vitamin C, also help to improve the appearance of skin. Berries contain a compound called ellagic acid, which helps reduce UV-ray induced skin wrinkles, according to a 2010 study published in the journal Experimental Dermatology.
Nuts Replace snacks like chips and pretzels with nuts, which provide protein and fiber in addition to a satisfying crunch. Although nuts contain a large amount of fat and calories, they can help guard against weight gain, according to a 2011 study that appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine. Eat almonds for vitamin E and walnuts as a source of omega-3 fatty acids, an essential fat. Pistachios pack the fewest calories, at 4 calories per nut
Air-Popped Popcorn At a mere 20 calories per cup, this whole-grain snack won't ruin your diet. Popcorn also contains a higher level of polyphenols — antioxidants that help to lower the risk of heart disease and cancer — than berries.
Nonfat Greek Yogurt This versatile dairy product adds creaminess to desserts and dips while providing protein and calcium. Eating yogurt can also help ward off long-term weight gain, according to a multi-year 2011 study of adults published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Oatmeal The whole grains in oatmeal contain soluble fiber and selenium, which help to lower cholesterol and protect the skin from UV damage. Besides eating it as a hot cereal, try folding this breakfast staple into ground meat to make meatloaf.

If you have a dog, you know that look they have or how they react when they know they are in trouble or have just simply done something that they shouldn't have. Well, there is a dog named 'Denver,' (yes, Denver) that has become known as the "most guilty dog" on the web.
It's sad to see people vandalizing anyones property and especially Denver's public art! Do you remember a few weeks ago the 'Blue Bear' next to the Denver Convention Center was painted green? It's good to know that a suspect accused in the vandalism was arrested today!
9NEWS/KUSA TV
Denver Police have arrested the man who allegedly vandalized the Big Blue Bear in downtown Denver.
The bear was vandalized on March 31 when Rivas allegedly poured green paint on the sculpture.
The Big Blue Bear has been cleaned up and is all blue again!
UPDATE 4:24 P.M. May 1, 2013
Wednesday afternoon news reports said the District Attorney said there wasn't enough evidence in the case and released the man they had arrested earlier.

Today is World Penguin Day and what better way to celebrate than to have a new trio of penguins hatched at the Denver Zoo! Denver Zoo recently welcomed a trio of penguin chicks, representing two different species. Penguins just happen to one of my favorite animals too, so I'm probably extra excited about these new additions!
Denver Zoo
Two African penguins hatched on January 28 and February 11, and a Humboldt penguin hatched on February 14, the third hatch of its species at Denver Zoo since 1998. The three all slowly gained weight behind-the-scenes under the care of their parents and are slowly making their public debuts. Visitors can now see the two African penguin chicks in their outdoor habitat, weather depending. The Humboldt penguin chick is still growing behind-the-scenes under the watchful eyes of its parents. None of the chicks' genders are known yet, nor do they have names.
African penguins are found in southern Africa. Although most people associate penguins with frigid temperatures, African penguins enjoy warmer weather.
They grow to more than two-feet-tall and can weigh around 10 pounds. Their black and white patterns are unique to each penguin, like fingerprints on humans. More important, though the patterns serve as camouflage from predators in the wild as they are swimming. Seen from above, their dark backs blend in with the water. Seen from below, their white bellies blend in with the sky above.
We all like to snack and eat some junk food once in a while, right? Foxnews.com has listed five healthier alternatives, and some of them might surprise you. A simple, chocolate chip cookie made the list, I'm in!
Flickr Creative Commons
Baked potato chips
Those crafty food scientists at Frito-Lay figured out that deep-frying chips adds a lot of fat and calories. Their solution? Bake those chips in a nice, hot oven.
Low-fat cheese puffs
The cheese puff represents a major breakthrough in snack science (and particle physics, but that’s another article). Nobody really knows what a cheese puff actually is, but we all love to gobble them down during halftime.
Low-cal, low-sodium pretzels
Pretzels seem healthy because they’re relatively sedate snacks. Because of this, it’s easy to gobble up too many of the tasty knots. If you’re going to snack on pretzels, look for healthy ones.
Better chocolate bars
Unfortunately, the massive food-engineering firms haven’t really figured out how to concoct a good, low-calorie chocolate bar. They’ve made a few breakthroughs, but diluted or modified chocolate is about as appealing as eating fresh potting soil. If you must have a chocolate bar, eat only half. There are a few mass-produced bars that are better than others when it comes to fat and calories. Snickers, for instance, contains 280 calories and 14 grams of fat. Kit Kat is a little better, with 218 calories and 11 grams of fat. Plus, you can eat just one of the bars in a Kit Kat pack and halve that calorie count.
Low-fat cookies
Your regular, no-frills chocolate chip cookie contains 59 calories and 3 grams of fat. Others, like Archway’s apple-filled oatmeal cookie, hold about 98 calories each.
We are always our worst critic, especially when it comes to how we look, or our own perception of how we look. Dove's recent campaign is trying to change the way women perceive their own beauty, and their results were pretty awesome! Basically they did an experiment with a sketch artist having women describe themselves to the artist to create a drawing, and then they had a complete stranger describe a subjects look, the results, well you should watch the video below!
YouTube
Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.
And don't forget: YOU are more beautiful than you think!

Facts about joining the Donate Life Organ & Tissue Donor Registry
Being on the Donate Life Colorado or Wyoming Registry means that you have elected to have all of your organs and tissues made available for transplant and/or research at the time of your death. It is good to communicate your decision to be a donor with your family.
If you are an eligible donor, your family will be informed of your decision at the time of your death and asked to provide information about your medical and behavioral history.
If you wish to only donate certain organs and/or tissue, you may list restrictions when filling out the online registry form on this site [in the 'any additional comments' section; please no commentary]. Single restrictions are recorded in the donor registry.
The registry will only accommodate restrictions or exclusions related to individual organs or tissues that can be removed for purposes of transplantation, medical education or research. Organs are distributed according to national guidelines and regulations set up by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Tissue donation and transplantation is overseen by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Donate Life Colorado or Wyoming Organ and Tissue Donor Registry ensures that your decision about donation will be known and acted upon.
Personal information in the registry is only accessible to designated medical professionals.
The information on the registry cannot be shared with or sold to companies and government agencies.
