Colorful Colorado: When To See Fall Leaves In The Rocky Mountains

When is the best time to see the leaves changing colors in Colorado? According to a Weather Channel map, mid-September to mid-October, depending on where you want to drive to see Colorful Colorado in the fall.

Colorado's peak fall foliage is usually from mid-September to mid-October, and can vary by season. Colorado strikes aspen gold when the aspen trees turn brilliant yellow in the mountains. Colorado and Utah are home to the largest number of aspen trees in the U.S.

One of my favorite drives is through Rocky Mountain National Park into Estes Park for a bite to eat and then on to Grand Lake, Colorado for an ice cream cone and more fall colors. The picture above is one I took in October 2010 in Rocky Mountain National Park.
