The Denver Suitcase party was a blast and it benefited Saddle Up, a wonderful organization that helps children with disabilities. Here's a pic from the night.
Yes while driving to work this morning, I got pulled over. I escaped without a ticket, but did get a verbal warning. I just wish he would of had breakfast or at least coffee....it was before 5am!!
I made him take a pic so I could show you :)

1.We put sugar in your kids' meals so kids will like them more. We even put extra sugar in the dough for the kids' pizzas.
2. If you're a vegetarian and you ask if we use vegetable stock, Iâm going to say yes even if we donât. Youâll never know the difference.
3.At a lot of restaurants, the special is whatever they need to sell before it goes bad. Especially watch out for the soup of the day. If it contains fish or if itâs some kind of gumbo, it's probably the stuff they're trying to get rid of.
4.Now that Iâve worked in a restaurant, I never ask for lemon in a drink. Everybody touches them, nobody washes them. We just peel the stickers off, cut them up, and throw them in your iced tea.
5.If you ask me how many calories are in a particular dish, I'm not allowed to tell you even if I know. I'm supposed to say, 'All that information is available online.'
6. I've never seen anybody do anything to your food, but I have seen servers mess with your credit card. If a server doesnât like you, he might try to embarrass you in front of your business associate or date by bringing your credit card back and saying, 'Do you have another card, this one didnât go through.'
7. Skim milk is almost never skim milk. Very few restaurants outside Starbucks carry whole milk, 2 percent milk, skim milk, and half-and-half; it's just not practical.
8. Some places buy salad dressings in one-gallon jars, then add a few ingredients, like a blue cheese crumble or fresh herbs, and call it homemade on the menu.
9. The single greatest way to get your waiter to hate you, ask for hot tea. For some reason, an industry thatâs managed to streamline everything else hasnât been able to streamline that. You've got to get a pot, boil the water, get the lemons, get the honey, bring a cup and spoon. Itâs a lot of work for little reward.
10. In many restaurants, the tips are pooled, so if you have a bad experience with the server, youâre stiffing the bartender who made your drinks, the water boy who poured your water, sometimes the hostess, the food runners, and maybe the other waiters.
11. Even at the best breakfast buffet in the world, 99 times out of 100, the big pan of scrambled eggs is made from a powder.
12. People think that just because your food took a long time, it's the server's fault. Nine times out of ten, it's the kitchen. Or it's the fact that you ordered a well-done burger.
13. When youâre with the woman who's not your wife, youâre a lot nicer to us, probably because you know that we know itâs not your wife.
14. Itâs much easier to be recognized as a regular on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays. Once youâre recognized as a regular, good things start to happen. Youâll find your wineglass gets filled without being put on your bill, or the chef might bring you a sample.
15. Avoid Motherâs Day and Valentineâs Day like the black plague. Itâs crazy busy, so theyâre not going to be able to pay as much attention to quality. Plus, they bring out a special menu where everything is overpriced.
16. If the restaurant is busy and your child is shy, please order for him. Kids can sit there forever trying to decide, or they whisper and you canât hear them. Meanwhile the people at the next table are yelling at you to come over.
17. The best tippers tend to be middle-class or people who have worked for everything they have, not the really wealthy or the kid who inherited the trust fund. Which is not to say that we mind if you use coupons. But when you do, tip on the amount the bill would have been without them.
18. First dates, especially blind Internet dates, are great for tips. You know heâll probably order a bottle of wine and leave a 20 to 25 percent tip because he's showing off.
19. Donât order fish on Sunday or Monday. The fish deliveries are usually twice a week, so Tuesday through Friday are great days. Or ask the restaurant when they get theirs.
20. In most restaurants, after 8 p.m. or so, all the coffee is decaf because no one wants to clean two different coffeepots. Iâll bring out a tray with 12 coffees on it and give some to the customers who ordered regular, others to the ones who ordered decaf. But they're all decaf.

Yes I'm such a girl! I thought it was beautiful. I know a lot of people think it's silly, but it is a historic event. What did you think of her dress? I thought it was beautiful. It surprised me that it wasn't more embellished, I thought she would have a lot more "bling" on it. She looked like a fairytale princess. The dress was made by Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander Mc Queen, and seemed to be not as white as a traditional dress, more ivory. Most people don't know that she had a blue ribbon sewed inside of dress. As for something borrowed, the Queen gave her a tiara to wear and her parents gave her "new" earrings that symbolize their family crest.
Prince William looked amazing in his red irish guard uniform and was smiling every moment. I have to say, he's not one for PDA's....the kiss was only a peck..about 2 seconds. They kissed again for the crowd, it lasted about 5 secs...way to go Willy :)Â
They are now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Such a fairytale!

Am I the only one that hears farm animal noises from the sewer system in downtown Denver? Did you know they have speakers playing animal noises on Curtis Street next to the Federal Reserve? I was there yesterday and totally convinced there was a turkey and pig stuck in the sewer system!!
I learned a valuable lesson this past weekend, never sit on superglue!! Let me explain. My uncle used superglue on nerf darts for the kids, they were coming apart so he glued them back together. He ended up talking to family members and thought nothing of putting the tube of glue in his back pocket. When he sat down later, the tube opened and his jeans and boxers ended up glued to his booty!! They had to cut around the part of jeans that was glued to his cheek and then soak in nail polish remover!! Finally came off with no trip to ER.
Help VOAcolorado.org and honor your Mom this Mother's Day!
My Mama is a woman of faith, a woman with strength and a woman whose love for her children knows no length. Jenny Kay Nelson is a woman who I admire greatly. She taught me love, compassion and courage to create my dreams. I remember growing up watching my Mama read, study poetry and create beautiful art with pencil and brush. She has always had a love for art in many forms and encouraged all of her children to pursue it as well. She told me many times that poetry and scripture can heal the body, mind and soul. In one of the many books my Mama gave me and encouraged me to read nightly, I found a beautiful sentence that reminds me of her....."Behind every flower stands God."
My Mama reminds me of a flower, a beautiful red rose, full of life and love. As you look closely at the petals, you see the true beauty. Her grace, her maternal love, her strength and spirit that has been the foundation of which I grow. I teach my own children compassion for others, joy for the beauty of love and eternal life by the grace of God. From my childhood memories I now know that when my child sheds tears of sadness from a difficult day at school or a skinned knee from falling off his bike, three scoops of ice cream and a giant hug from his Mama will be a memory he will cherish alway! I love you Mama.

Do not buy those tiny magnets that are marketed for kids to play and build things. They are a little bigger than a bb. My son had over 20 in a round ball and doing what a kid does, he stuck them in his mouth while joking around. He accidentally swallowed the magnets and he has now been thru three surgeries. The magnets were pulling his intestines together. He has 5-6 holes in his intestines and one hole in his stomach. He is on a feeding tube and having his stomach pumped 24/7. We are going to be at hospital for another week. Please don't buy these for your kids, throw them out if you have them.

This photo was taken in Japan, right after the earthquake... it is definitive proof that all living creatures are truly connected... I was very moved by this picture and wanted to share it with you as well.
As we go thru this journey of life with all its ups and downs, sometimes when we are down or think we have it bad, we don't realize there are others who indeed do have it worse than we do. Life is so precious and it is important to always remember that. The people and other living creatures in Japan had no warning of the earthquake, one moment life was fine... and in a matter of moments it was all changed forever.
There is something really cool happening soon. Â Murf and I have teamed up with FOX 31 to send you to the American Idol finale!! Â Two seats to watch the big show down during the most watched show of the season. Â Thursday morning at 7:40 we will tell you more. Â Until then, shhhhhhhhhh...it's a secret!!
Dan was out with his girlfriend, they have been dating for 3 months. They were having a great time with friends, drinking, laughing and just got caught up in the moment. He bent down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She has been telling everyone for the past two days that they are engaged. He isn't ready, but doesn't want to hurt her. He said he had too many drinks and was just caught up in the moment.

My oldest son, Austin, escorted me to The AVS Better Halves Brunch over the weekend. It was a fund raiser for Children's Hospital and other charities. Austin was such a little gentleman and had a great time meeting all of the players.Â
My son came home from school telling me about a cool song that I have to hear, "It's SO cool Mom!" Â Ummm, turns out the song was "You Gotta Fight For Your Right To PARRRRRTTTTTTY!!" Yes, he was shocked when I started busting out the lyrics :) Â His reaction was, "No way, it's ol' school Mom?"
My husband bought a kiln and a pottery wheel at an auction and now we are going to relive the scene from Ghost...he, he just kidding! Â I am going to learn how to use them and very excited about the possibilities. Â I was told you can also make some really cool jewelry pieces. Â If you have experience with using a pottery wheel, please send an email. Â I'll post pics this weekend....it will be my first spin on the wheel :)
It was really cool talking to both of the actresses today about the new show, "Who Do You Think You Are?" Â If you haven't seen the show, it tracks celebs family history. Â Tim McGraw will be on the show Friday. Â I found out that my husband is from French Royalty and my dad is somehow related to Brad Pitt!! Â All this time, I thought I was going to take Angelina's place....not anymore, now that we are related. Â Ewww!

The hype has begun for the Turkey Bowl and this promises to be the best Thanksgiving celebration since the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock. Today, we are a little more than a week away from the 2010 Turkey Bowl. As every year, the Turkey Bowlâs board of directors (Myself, and my underpaid interns) strive to make improvements from the previous season. This year, the participants will be playing for an unbelievable cause. All proceeds and donations will be going to the Childrenâs Tumor Foundation. CTF is a nonprofit medical foundation; dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis. You have to ask yourself, is there a better way to be thankful on Thanksgiving then giving back to these families?  We have already received generous donations from people across the United States. As the great Muhammad Ali once said, âService to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.â
Â
The 2010 Nike Turkey Bowl is shaping up to be the most organized and attended game of the century. For 2010, we have improved our venue and sponsorship.  We are playing at Denver Universityâs Barton Lacrosse Stadium. This gridiron provides the ultimate battlefield for the famous and infamous Civil War of Denver, the North versus the South epic grudge match that is more commonly known as the 2010 Edition of the Nike Turkey Bowl. As far as sponsorships, we have received many donations from generous people.Â
Â
As current Tuna great Mike Kenevan says, âYou canât drink all day if you donât start in the morning.â Just like any other Tuna event, drinking is encouraged. It is the holiday season, and we should do our best to drink and be merry. One of our sponsors HardNutrition.com will be supplying drinks of the non-alcoholic variety for the athletes and fans as well. Â
Â
Every Turkey Bowl, pregame shots are taken (literally and figuratively). We had a chance to catch up with the Southâs Head Coach Lynn Watwood "you do if I sang out of tuneâ at the Park Hill Driving Range again this year. He had no love for the North squad and even had his own Dennis Green moment, âLast year we destroyed the North team. This year will be no different and I vow victory. The North is who we thought they were. They are who we thought they were. And we let them off the hook! The North will be singing a different tune come Thanksgiving Day, I guarantee it! But if you want to crown them, then crown their ***. !â
Â
Vic Lombardi, the esteemed and fabled coach, Founder, captain, quarterback, smack talker and defensive back of the North team when asked after last yearâs demolishing at the hands of the South squad about the execution of his squad that day responded âAs the great Tampa bay Coach john McKay said after his team went 0-145, âI am in favor of it!!â
Â
Tuna legend, Tuna rules director, CU football great and former Green Bay Packer star and Director of College Scouting for the San Francisco 49ers Dave McCloughan has stated "to be honest with you there will be more talent in this game than in a UFL game or college game so I might as well show up and scout these boys. We are always looking for "Mike" backers and I just might find one at the Turkey Bowl." McCloughan then looked at his notes and remarked "what number is Matt Russell wearing any way?"
Â
Butkus Award winning linebacker and South Stalwart Matt Russell had this to say to the North team, âI decided this year to work out for at least the two weeks leading up to the game so I will not be a cripple until new Years like I was last year, and I will be there on Thanksgiving day for Childrenâs Tumor Foundation, the Fans andto crush the Lombardiâs and I am bringing Hell with me!!â
Â
The weather report for Thursday is 61 degrees and sunny so you can't ask for better conditions for the battle of the century. The North teams roster is still largely a mystery other than the fact that they will have a gaggle of Lombardiâs and adopted Lombardiâs playing such as former Broncos Reggie Rivers. Â
Â
Â
Â
Here is the latest South Team Roster for the game:
Â
1.    Peter âSports Centerâ Schaffer â the venerable captain of the south team. His quarterback skills parallel some of the greatest non-quarterbacks to play in the NFL such as Joe Kapp and Babe Parelli; his true strengths come from his vast collection of throwback jerseys actually game worn in the NFL and his ability to supply his team with receiver gloves. NFL Player most resembles â Billy Kilmer
2.    Bill âthe farmer in theâ Edell â this professional lacrosse star, assistant coach of the Denver Outlaws and TGA regular made his Turkey Bowl debut in 2008 and is still feeling the aches and pains from his series of misfortunes. He looks to redeem himself this year. NFL Player most resembles â Jeremy Shockey

4.    Derek âThe Wild Wildâ West â this Tuna original and former CU football star and high draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts (or were the Colts High when they made him a draft choice?) will bring stature, presence size, and beers to the Tuna line. NFL player most resembles â Derek West â Indianapolis Colts.
5.    Paul âHowardâ Stern â the esteemed goaltender of the Tuna Ice Hockey team is also a Turkey Bowl original. His precise routes are matched by his exemplary preparation for the game and his immaculate planning. He is also responsible for always bringing and filling the famed Tuna âyellow bagâ filled with beers for the event. NFL Player most resembles â Ken Dryden
6.    Roger Wilson âand outâ Hailing from Mississippi (Southern Miss - Golden Eagle). The Qb of the victorious 2009 edition of the South Squad in the Turkey Bowl. A heady cagy veteran with great pocket presence, play calling and a deceptive arm. NFL Player most resembles â George Blanda
7.    Chad âthe Reptileâ Brown â This multiple time NFL Pro Bowl linebacker and CU legend made his Tuna Turkey Bowl debut in 2008 and scored the games rookie of the year award. In 2009 he won the MVP award. Sure he could wupp Tony Bosellis ass and Willie Roafâs butt in the NFL but he had problems running around the large end of Reggie Rivers in 2009 and this year he vows to handle the vaunted Lombardi multiple option offense? NFL Player most resembles â Chad Brown
8.    Geoff Bieging âor be lateââ here is another Turkey bowl youngster, this former indoor lacrosse and TV star brings speed and hands to the game. He was the odds on favorite to win the Turkey Bowl Rookie of the year in 2008 but lost out to Chad Brown. NFL Player most resembles â Marvin Harrison

10.                       âToeâ Blake Anderson - The man who made the miracle of Michigan possible looks to make 2010 his redemption year after pulling up with a ham string injury early in the 2008 game. His major contribution to the game was his fabulous wearing of his old manâs CU throw back jersey for the 1960âs. The commissioners have ruled due to his lack of play time in 2008 that 2010 still counts as his rookie season. NFL player most resembles â Josh Cribbs
11.                       Matt Russell âCroweââ thatâs right the gladiator himself in the flesh, Matt Russell of CU Fame, of Detroit Lions Fame, the winner of the prestigious Butkus Award as the best linebacker in all of the land while at CU and the current director of college scouting for your Denver Broncos, made his tuna turkey bowl debut for the South Squad in 2009 and has counted the days from last year to this yearâs game in anticipation. NFL Star Most resembles â Greg Biekert.
12.                       Brett âHullâ Cullaton â this tuna hockey star who has played for the Canadian national hockey team and makes his tuna bowl debut in 2009. He still doesnât realize we play 4 downs in the states. NFL Star Most resembles â Conrad Dobler
13.                       David Pratt âfallâ the division 3 Lacrosse player of the year from the famous Nazareth college and hailing from the small town of Homer New York is a venerable hunter and will be playing safety hunting for wounded ducks thrown by North Quarterback Mario Lombardi. NFL Star Most resembles â Dan Pratt
14.                       Mark âTonyâ Randall â thatâs right, the infamous Mark Randall from NBA/Kansas/Chicago Bears and Cherry Creek High School lore and Nuggets basketball has indicated that he will bring his decrypted body out for his inaugural game. The tallest of all Tunas he will be a force to reckon with or at least to watch. NFL Star Most resembles â Mark Randall
15.                       Denise Plante- the Emmy Award winning radio on-air personality from KOSI 101 and 9 Newsâ Colorado and Company has decided to grace us with her presence on the field. Her dedication and off the field candor for the Turkey Bowl has not gone unnoticed, and we will see if it translates to the field. NFL Star Most resembles- Lynn Swann
16.                       Scott Petersen- the PGA Tour Professional and CU Legend will be making a Turkey Bowl appearance as well. The 6 foot 3 inch pride of Williston, North Dakota will be hoping to stretch the field and test the North deep! NFL Star Most resembles- Randy MossÂ
17.                       Steve âLyleâ Govett â The General manager of the Colorado Mammoth, former Professional Lacrosse Star and Canadian Native is a Turkey bowl regular. He can goon it up with the best of them and will do so on Thanksgiving day. NFL Player most resembles â Garo Yepremium
18.                       Trevor Tierney â The current assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Denver, a US World lacrosse team member, first team all-American, professional lacrosse player and recognized as one of the greatest lacrosse goalies of all time will be making his turkey bowl debut. He can stop shots with the best of them but can he stop the âstop and go?â NFL Star Most resembles â Barry Sanders
19.                       Mike Lansing â A major league baseball all star, a former red Sox , Rockies and Expos and a former option quarterback from his high school days makes his Tuna debut. NFL Star Most resembles â Turner Gill

He will bring his spirit, his laughter and his sack ability to the game. NFL Star Most resembles â Alfred Williams
We talked to Buddy Valastro, The Cake Boss, this morning about his stop in Denver on Monday. He is hilarious!! Dude has an attitude...but in a good way :) He said he's coming by the studio and want Murphy and I to compete in cake making contest. What kind of cake should I make, cool ideas for designs?? HELP!!
The Housewives of Atlanta!! I know its total drama and I sit and wonder why I'm wasting my life watching these crazy chicks! Â It's fun to watch and half of the things they say or do, is just not normal. Â Are there really women out there like that? Â Women that live their lives with that much shallowness? Â Candy is probably my favorite "character," she seems nice and like she's trying to live a somewhat normal life. Â
Another one I watch is New Jersey Housewives, those girls are straight up crazy!! Â I wonder what would happen if you made the southern belles live with jersey attitudes for a month?

Operation Combat Boot Comfort is making steady progress but still needing many more votes.
Â
The foundation for Operation Combat Boot Comfort is to Support the needs of our deployed Marines and Troops.
Â
Our care package efforts started when our youngest son deployed to Iraq in 2007. We quickly learned the great need and importance of our support to these front line Marines. With the help of many wonderful Americans, family, friends and businesses, we have worked hard to support the brave men and women deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Â
While our older son was deployed to Afghanistan last fall, we learned of a need for sleeping bag liners. We sent over 500 fleece sleeping bag liners and care packages to very thankful Marines, Navy and Soldiers last year.
Â
Operation Combat Boot Comfort in the running for a $50,000 grant in Aug. The top 10 projects with the most votes win $50,000.  This grant will be used to make fleece sleeping bag liners and ship them and some other much needed care package items to our front line troops this winter in Afghanistan. This is a very unique project. The sleeping bag liners are highly needed by the men and women that are sleeping in tents or even holes they dig in the ground. Afghanistan is like Colorado and gets bitter cold in the winter. Your help will make a positive difference each cold night for a brave American hero.
-It is going to be another cold winter in Afghanistan. You can help an American soldier sleep warmer and more comfortable by helping Operation Combat Boot Comfort win the grant.
Take a look at Ken Weber, he was our guest DJ yesterday. He won the chance to be part of the morning show at Denver Hospice event. He also won Murphy's mask he decorated for auction.
According to the Hollywood Reporter Simon Lythgoe is in negotiations to come back and produce Idol. Â Randy Jackson still has a year on his contract and Ellen has a long term deal with the Network. Â Simon Lythgoe has been rumored in wanting Paula Abdul back, along with Usher and/or Elton John.

You have seen the Marriage Ref on NBC right? Get ready for the Relationship Ref with Murphy & Denise. Today's issue is a husbands night out...or a night in! He invites his friends over and they all dress up as Dungeons & Dragons characters and act out the game in the basement...with swords and all :) The wife is embarrassed because neighbors are starting to notice themen walking in and out of the home in the costumes. What do you think? Who is right? If you have an issue you want our listeners to decide, email murphyanddenise@kosi101.com
Everyone has been talking about it, the Nike commercial tha show Tiger just staring at the camera while we hear his dad's voice, who ihas passed. His dad is asking him what he has learned...referring to his affairs. Is that really his dad's voice and where did the audio come from? How long ago was this audio recorded and what was his dad referring to at the time. It's strange that it makes so much sense today. To watch the commercial, click here.

I emceed the Heart Ball Saturday night for the American Heart Association. Thank you to all who helped raise money for heart disease, especially in children. Over 36,000 children die each year from heart disease. The young boy below is a survivor. Garrett has already had two heart transplants and he is an amazing young man! He gave me the small flashing heart I'm holding in the pics. I'm bless that I met Garrett, his sis Jessie and mom and dad. I also met the parents of the young boy who passed and gave Garret his heart to survive.
It truly was a life changing night.
9 News reporters Susie Wargin and Matt Renoux have started a trend at the Olympics. Susie has been wearing this cute pink hat while doing her live reports from Vancouver and the Denver ladies want to know how to get their hands on the cap. She has actually been buying the hat for the viewers that email her...what a sweetie! As far as I know, you can only get it in Vacouver at the Olympics. Matt is not going to be left out in the fashion field, he has started sporting this yellow scarf. I wonder if he considers it his "gold?"
It was this past Saturday and was a blast! Project Safeguard help victims of domestic violence thru the legal system and helps them find safety. Go to www.PSGhelps.org for more info. Enjoy the pics!
If I had my child to raise all over again,I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.I would do less correcting and more connecting.I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play....I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
Email us your questions! Murphy and Denise will be on "Your Show" on Sunday on 9 News at 10:30 am. Feel free to email your questions to yourshow@9news.com
Michael Jackson always had his kids covered up when in the public eye. He had Paris and Prince wear masks to hide their faces. Last night, the Jackson family had them accept an award in honor of their late father. How do you think MJ would feel about that? Does this help them emotionally, to lead a more normal life or is it "shocking" to them?
They have been seen lately with their young cousins and I can't help but feel that the Jackson family is planning a Jackson 5 the second band....anyone else have this same feeling??
just let out a HUGE scream because I thought I saw a spider on the stairs! I yelled for Mike to come get it. My 6 year old son rushed to my rescue, but then he started laughing....he picked it up and it was one of my fake eyelashes!!
Here is another entry from my grandmothers diary.Â
Diary,
It has been amazing these past couple of months, Bill and I are closer than ever! I am going to tell you something that no one knows about...Bill asked me to marry him!! I am so excited! I can not tell Pa, he will never allow it. Bill is leaving to fight in the war. Pa thinks my heart will be broken and I need to say goodbye to him forever. That is so sad diary. How can I say goodbye to the man I love...forever? Does Pa know what he is asking me to do? Does Pa know what true love is? I never see him holding hands, hugging or even telling ma that he loves her. Bill tells me everyday that I am his girl and I changed his life. He has really changed my life, I will never be the same. I know I have to say goodbye, but I will not let it be forever. I won't allow that. He has to fight for our country and I will fight for him, for us. Tomorrow is the day I say goodbye, how will I be able to handle this diary?
How do you feel about it? My husband Mike refuses to do it, it embarrasses him. He says people want to see the kids, not him. I have only been able to send out a family pic once...rest of the time it's the kids and my doggy Hanna. They turn out great and the kids have fun with it....just wasn't sure if I was the only one that deals with a shy husband each year.
I just got back from the pet store, I bought two more slider turtles for my boys. Â About 7 mths ago my oldest sons turtle died. Â It was his first pet and pretty difficult. Â He since then had a lizard....we said goodbye yesterday. Â So here I am at it again. Â I thought reptiles were supposed to last looooong time?? Â We are doing everything right....I think. Â The store told me only to feed the turtles pellets, so no lettuce for this one.
We are all Christmas music now and I love it!! We have some really great surprises planned throughout the holidays for you....including another trip to Hawaii baby!!
Alex and Kiowa were in town promoting the new Twilight movie out on the 20th and they were the nicest guys. Crazy to see how many people go crazy for these kids. I have to admit, I'm a Twi-Mom!
This Sunday join me at Park Meadows at 7pm for a Q and A session with two of the actors from Twilight New Moon. It's a couple of the guys from the wowolf pack
That was the title of the diary post my grandma wrote in March of 1915. Â She truly loved Bill....is Bill my Grandpa? Â Continue to follow what I write about her diary entries and you will find out!
"Dear Diary, Â Bill gave me his heart today. Â I know I have his love, but he handmade me a heart. Â This heart is made out of wood, he carved it with his own hands. Â It must of took hours. Â The detail and beauty, I will cherish this wooden heart always. Â He told me he made it for me so I can remember him if he leaves to fight for our country. Â I tried to talk to Pa about the war Bill has been talking about, but he says it's not something young ladies should know about. Â He told me it could give me bad dreams. Â If it is that bad, I don't want my Bill to go. Â I want him to stay and I want to have a family with him. Â Yes I am only 17, but diary I know this is true love. Â I will have his heart next to mine always."
We had such a blast! Â Great show and Namiko's is an awesome place to eat!! Â Here is a pic with KOSI winners and the owner of Namiko's. Â I had a great time girls, hope you did too!
She said if I read it, it would teach me valuable lessons in life....she was right.  I have to tell you, my Grandma lived  life that should be on the big screen.  Her diary makes me laugh, cry and fall in love all over again.  She was an amazing woman.  When I was younger, I would brush her hair as she read from her diary.  The years she struggled through childhood crushes, the arguments she had with loved ones and the courageous battles she fought and won.  I thought I would share a bit with you each day in hopes that you too could find a life lesson and pay it forward.
"I'm only 17, but I think I have found true love. Â My mom tells me she doesn't think it is possible and my friends say I am too young. Â Diary, do you think he is the one? Â Am I putting all of my hopes in dreams into a young school girl crush, or will Bill turn out to be the man that I will marry someday? Â He treats me with respect and says he will always protect me. Â He has always showed me respect, never forcing me to do what a lady wouldn't (my mom says that is important.) Â I think this is what my mom must of felt for my pa, but will it last a lifetime? Â Bill says he might have to leave, he might have to fight for our country. Â What does that mean? Â It's a scary time, I hope I don't lose him."
is going to be in studio today :) I'm really excited because I have always been a fan, but never had the chance to meet him. He's also going to be on my tv show, Colorado and Company on 9 News at 10am. Do you think he's going to think I'm a stalker?? :)
I love that show, it's on CBS on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Jeff just won HOH, he's my FAVORITE player. His partner is Jordan, acute, little 22 year old from NC. She seems like a complete airhead, but so kind hearted. They seem to have developed a bond. Who knows, maybe out of the house they will date :) Yes, I'm always a sucker for romantic love stories. Let me know what you think about the show and who you want to win. If you don't watch it, check it out...you will love it!
I love FB, yes I am addicted!! I do worry about who is looking at what....we all should. Check out this app, you can actually track who is looking at your page.

I ran Kids Cure for Cancer this past SUnday, it's a 5k. I haven't really been working out much lately, so it really did overtime on my body. So worth it, there are some amazing families that need help at Brents Place!
Murf and Cathy are so sweet!! They planned a few surprises today to celebrate my b-day :) I cried early this morning when I found out they had my mom and dad call in to surprise me....it meant so much :) I work with an awesome team, they are reallycaring people! Thank you to all of the listeners that called in with b-day wishes too :)
For the very first time, I got my lip waxed yesterday! It hurt, oh my did it hurt!! I now have no peach fuzz...or little black hairs, YEA! Why did I finally do it? My son told me I was growing a mustache :(
We talked to Chris Daughtry yesterday, really cool guy. He twitters instead of Face Book, so he said he would follow our tweets!   You can too, look for MurphyandDenise or look for DenisePlante
Murf and I had a photo shoot with Peggy Ziglin, fashion expert. Â Look for cardboard standees of one of the pics at all of the Outlets of Colorado soon! Â Peggy will be on air giving us tips very soon!
I took my two nieces to the Jonas Bros concert, I can't believe how popular they are!! Â Here are a few pics. Â One is Nick, the KOSI winner. Â Nick won four suite tix and had such a great time. Â He also was diagnosed with diabetes, like Nick Jonas. Â He is really an amazing young man. Â The other pics are Jonas Bros and Jordan Sparks.[gallery]
when it comes to laundry? Â I have piles and piles of it!! Â I will do a power laundry WEEKEND, not day because there is too much, and all is good. Â By the end of the week, more stacks of laundry. Â Am I the only one this happens to? Â I feel like such a bad mom when this happens, we ALWAYS have dirty laundry. Â Do you have any tips or tricks you could give me? Â I know, do a small pile everyday. Â That's easy to say, but hard for me to do. Â HELP!!
I took my boys to see the new movie "UP," it was in 3D and awesome! Â The movie was much deeper than I expected. Â It actually had some people crying...not me of course :) Â Loved it, you need to see it!
Today is the day they jump over tires, toss rings, race and play tug of war....it's field day!! I love this day, it's so much fun watching the kids. They are so proud to show mom and dad what they can do with the rest of the class. I just hope it doesn't rain :)
Rocked!! Â Fergie and Black Eyed Peas were SO good!! Â Chris is going to be a major country star, like Carrie Underwood. Â Even if he doesn't win, he will have a great career.
I loved it when Kara got on stage and sang with bikini girl....she can sing!!
Jorge Cruise will be on the show with Murf and I tomorrow morning to discuss his new book...Body at Home, drop 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Â This guy has worked with some of the most amazing people, Dr. Oz even loves this expert. Â So, I thought I would give it a try. Â It's not so much cardio, but a lot of strength training. Â He also gives menus in his book, easy ones that I can even make :) Â Listen tomorrow morning and get the scoop. Â His website is www.jorgecruise.com
Mat was at the station last week, performed live. Â He is so talented, just him and his guitar. Â I video taped it and will air behind the scenes interview this Weds on Colorado & Company at 10am during The COCO Concert Lounge.

I normally don't call and complain, just move on and try to get over it. However, last Saturday I blew my top. I stopped off at a tanning salon to get a mystic tan...yes the spray tan. (it's better for your skin :)  My sister had an appt at 5:30 and they closed at 6pm. My sister arrived early and talked to the manager to see if I could get an appt. She said yes, but hurry. I left at 5:15 and got there at 5:47, doors locked. My sister just walked out of the building!! I knocked on the door and the lady wouldn't even turn around. So I whipped out the ol' cell phone and called her while looking at her. She answered and I said, "Hi, I'm the one you told to drive down before 6pm." She said, "Our last appt is at 5:45." "It's 5:47! I said. "You told me to drive from Castle Rock." She hung up the phone and walked to the door and slammed it open, then turned her back to walk away in disgust. I quickly asked her, "Did you just hang up on me?" She said, "I couldn't hear you." Oh, but she heard me say I was outside...hmmmm. I then asked her if she was the owner and she said, "No, I'm Courtney the manager." I responded by saying, "Long day Courtney?" She said, "I've been here 11 hrs.!" Well not my problem and I don't deserve to be treated like that. I told her she shouldn't of told me to drive 30 minutes to get here if she was going to close early and be a snot about it. I walked out....no tan day :(

HUMOR OR JOKE TELLING-means you like to joke because you are afraid of rejection and if you are rejected you can just tell the person you are going after that you were just kidding.
TOUCHING-means you are secure, a great conversationalist and love to give and receive massages.
COMPLIMENTING-means you are observant, a good communicator, hate negative people and love to party.

My 9 year old had to write a paragraph for his teacher about his chores. Well, this is what he wrote.
My chores start with my bedroom and then I cleaned my dad's truck, including his tobacco...YUCK! (Mike chews and Austin saw his tobacco in his car) He went on to write: Next, I picked up the backyard, it's impossible not to step on dog poop! (I picked up the dog poo, not Austin. If you have a dog, its going to happen, right?) He ended by saying...Don't get me started about the toys, even in the garage.
Sooooo.....it sounds like I make my kid pick up toys, tabacoo and dog poo! I had to write an email to the teacher to explain :)
Deb Sheppard, our psychic, was in today...Freaky Deaky!! When I initially met her, I told her I didn't want to hear anything....I've always been afraid of that stuff. She completely respected my wishes. Then one day I couldn't handle it anymore andasked her to tell me something...anything!! It's crazy! She has hit on a lot of different things in my life, not sure how she does it. She'll be in again on the 16th or go to www.debsheppard.com
It's the little things in life that makes me happy! Â It took me almost 2 mths, but I have created the perfect pancake and my boys still won't eat them!! Â What's wrong with those turkey boys!
I hosted an event last night with Brian Griese and Bill Mosher for Judi's House. A wonderful place here in Denver that was started by Brian 5 yrs ago. Judi's House is a place where kids 3-18 yrs old can go for help grieving after losing a family member, both Brian and Bill lost their mom when they were 12 yrs old.
Eating pizza, drinking diet coke and watching the Oscars...aahhhhh! Â Okay, my favorite dress so far is Heidi Klum's! Â It's only the beginning, so that may change by tomorrow morning.
but I made the dress fit! Half way through the night,I had to take off one pair of spanks in order to breath!! Here's a pic from the Heart Ball on Saturday night. Love the dress, just a little too tight :)
My husband Mike, friend Stacey and her husband Mike in pic
My sons tv keeps going on and off at all hours...yesterday it went off at 3am. I finally had to unplug it! Is it electricity, someone playing a joke or is my house haunted! According to Deb Sheppar, our psychic, it's my grandpa stopping by to say hi. Listen to the audio on Murphy and Denise page "As heard on air"...crazy stuff. Find out more and sign up for her news letter by going to www.debsheppard.com
I got this email from a listener...Thank You!
Good Morning Denise,
I feel bad when I hear you getting dissed for not cooking so here is a receipe that is mostly shopping.
Denise's Chicken (if they like it) or French Chicken if they don't
from the deli area of the grocery store
1 - 2 pkgs of pre-dooked grilled chicken strips
1 pkg pre-cooked pasta
1 container Allouette (garlic is best-don't use one of the sweet ones) light or regular
from bakery
1 loaf french bread
from freezer section
1 bag frozen veggies (steamers are the easiest)
At home
Prepare pasta and veggies per directions
In a skillet (frying pan)
add Allouette to chicken and warm until Allouette is melted - you can thin (stretch with fat free sour cream or fat free 1/2 & 1/2)
Slice bread
Now- if this is just for the kids you can use any veggie they'll eat and can serve as 3 different items or mix pasta & chicken before serving
Use a fancier veggie -like asparegus- if it's for adults and you can even add capers to the top of the chicken platter to make it look REALLY fancy.
Found this while reading Glamour...good tips.âLoseâ five pounds by matching your pants or skirt, stockings and shoes. Youâll seem 10 pounds lighter if theyâre all black! Is the one-color thing too tame for your taste? Slip on a pair of bright shoes to shake things up.Full, round shapes on top andbottom will make you lookâ¦full and round. So always accentuate your smallest part by pairing your more generously cut pieces with a snugger mate. Balance a full skirt with a fitted shirt, a flowy blouse with pencil-thin jeans, a miniskirt with a longer top.Jackets that are hip-length with tailored lines will look sleek; ones that are too baggy or that pull are figure-flattery disasters. Tapered jackets will always whittle your waist. The tailored cut of a pencil skirt (we love that itâs not skintight through the hips) makes all bodies look sleek. A-line ones work wonders on anyone whose thighs are a little heavier.Waist-length cardigans tend to shorten your body while long, hip-grazing versions make torsos seem long.Ever wonder why you see this look again and again on celebs, in ads, in magazines? Because, done right, it makes every woman look longer and leaner. Most flattering: straight-leg or boot-cut jeans that sit on your hips (as opposed to at your waist or below your hipbone) and cover your instep when youâre in heels.
Try one with a little nylon stretch that comfortably pulls you in. Wider belts instead of skinny ones will actually make you look smaller.
Look for these flattering pants features:
Flat-front styles. Theyâre instant minimizers if youâre curvy. Unlike pleats, a flat front creates an unbroken line across your stomachâmaking you look taller and slimmer.
A waistband between one and two inches wide. Narrower ones can divide (and draw attention to) a tummy bulge.
A slight flare. These have long been a top seller for a reason: They make hips look slimmer.
A smidge of stretch. It helps pants hold on to the clean, sharp fit you bought them for.
Itâs one dress everyone looks great in. Theyâre usually constructed with darts at the bust, curve-enhancing seams and a shaped waistâall sveltering features. In its deeper-hued incarnations, it absorbs light and therefore conceals just as well as darker (but not as exciting) colors. And because it is a color associated with power, your bold confidence in wearing it is ultimately the most figure-flattering trick of all.
Prints arenât as slimming as solid colors, but you can make them work for you by playing up their camouflaging features. If youâre bigger on the bottom, try pairing a printed A-line dress with a pair of black tights. The golden rule of prints: The smaller the print, the smaller you look.
Anything that cuts you off at the waist adds pounds. Youâll look slimmer if your top and bottom meet just below the waist.Itâs not as slimming as black, but itâs such a nice break from itâand if you keep the look fairly monochromatic, it can actually work nearly as well for you. Proportion is key; a loose white blouse with billowy sleeves begs for slim white jeans, while a -length white coat calls for simple but bold-hued separates.Â
A friend from High School put this picture on my facebook page. It's from 1988 when we won state track meet. Love the jean jacket I'm wearing....MEOW!!
NBC needs to team with Oxygen Network if need be to keep this awesome show on!! Help me out, email NBC and tell them to keep it on. You will be hooked girls after one episode.
I get a lot of emails about my hubby, so I thought I would post a pic of him on the site....shhhhh, don't tell him. He's really shy and would kill me if he knew :)
My 9 year old niece had to write a quick essay about HOW WE CAN HELP THE WORLD, she did an amazing job. Keep in mind she is only 9 years old, here is what she wrote.
We would have to think and work really hard to try to help the world. People could work together to find things to do to help the world. Think about people who have cancer, or people who have deathly dieseases. Curing those could help the world. Think about the poor families who do not have clothes, food and houses. What if the enviorment was clean so in the future the world wouldn't be a big pile of junk. What if there weren't any more robberies. Think about the world in the future if these things happened.
Great job, I'm proud of you Brooklyn!! Aunt Niece :)
I love being a mom of two boys, they are so loving!! They bring home some great gifts to show their love and sometimes, some pretty scary gifts. Yes, I've had snakes, spiders and even worms handed to me. Thank goodness the scariest ones are a thing of the past or at least until summer. Yesterday Wyatt brought home a great rock and a hair band that he found on the school playground. He thought I could put it in my hair. I didn't have the heart to tell him no thanks, mommy doesn't want to possibly get lice :) So I smiled and said Thank You! I guess I should be happy it doesn't crawl....or at least I hope not!
I am blessed to be able to host a radio and tv show here in Denver. I have so much fun doing both shows live each day, I never know whats going to happen. The tv show has a group of incredible people that work so hard behind the scenes to make it happen. Here's a group pic of my friends, Dreux, Steve, Jim, Mark, Chris, Moss, Vinnie, Alex, Patti and Tawnya.
I tried to teach Murphy facial yoga today in studio. I used to think my mom was crazy sitting around doing facial yoga. She would stretch her face while saying vowels.. A-E-I-O-U  I would laugh as a kid and say, "Mom, you're so funny!" Now that I'm in my 30's, I'm all about stretching my face while saying vowels...even while I'm driving!! To see the video and learn how to do facial yoga, go to our features page and hit kosi videos. Here's a pic of Murf trying it this morning.
Have you seen the new Oprah mag? Â On the cover it shows her before and after pic....she's put on the weight again. Â That's what I really like about her, she puts it out there for the whole world to see and read. Â She made a really good point in the magazine, we allow stress to get the better of us. Â We put ourselves at the bottom of the list and sleepwalk through the possibility of joy. Â My mom once asked me, "If you don't take care of yourself, who will take care of your family?" Â It's a question/statement that I always try to remind myself about. Â This year one of my goals is to "Shine in 09!" Â Yes there is a lot I want to accomplish with family, friends and work, but I'm also going to take time for myself. Â Pick up the magazine, it's inspirational!Â
Yes I am a procastinator!! I did most of my Christmas shopping yesterday and it paid off. I found some really great deals. Stores are slashing prices now that we are so close to Christmas. Park Meadows Mall was packed!! I boogied out of there after hitting Dicks Sporting Goods, for my brother in law. Drove to Castle Rock and hit the Outlets and finisheed up at Wally World. I also found some great deals on KOSI website....check out the Half off Holiday Deals!!
I went deep sea fishing!! I have always been scared of the ocean...not sure why. I've even had bad dreams about sinking...strange stuff. Mike really wanted to go deep sea fishing, so I took a dramamine and off we went. Guess who out fished all the boys?? That's right, big momma caught 5 fish. The strange part, I only had to reel in twice! My first cast, I caught two tuna. Second time, 3 fish!! We had multiple hooks. Mike caught one fish, so I let him borrow mine for a picture :) I'll post some pics in a couple of days.Â
It's time to take a break and hitthe beach. Mike and i are going to Cancun, we're very excited. We plan to go see Tulum, the Mayan ruin site on the beaches....check out pic. Years ago we went to see Chicinitza pyrmids and it was amazing!!
www.salescircular.com  check it out and save money. If you come across any shopping sites that will save money, let me know. We can work on this together :)
is playing at the Arvada Center and I'm taking my boys this weekend, can't wait. I saw a mini performance at the Outlets of Castle Rock during the tree lighting.
1. Use scraps of fabric to wrap presents. Apply puffy fabric paint to give the present a rich three dimensional look!
2. Purchase inexpensive plain white or brown wrapping paper and decorate the paper yourself.  First wrap the gift and then decorate. This is a great way to decorate grandparentsâ gifts. Have your children place their hands in washable paint and decorate the package with their hand prints. Â
* Helpful Hint *Â Instead of wrapping paper, recycle brown paper bags, when you wrap the present use double stick tape and work the extra seams into the pattern.
3. Use an old calendar to wrap your package. Some of the most beautiful photography can be found in calendars. Why throw it away when the year is done? The paper is thick, sturdy, and glossy!
4. Donât have enough of one wrapping paper to wrap an entire present? Make a mosaic of wrapping paper. Embellish the seams of the wrapping paper with ribbon, beads, or colored duct tape.
5. Instead of buying pre-made bows make your own. Use the Bowdabra to make beautiful affordable bows!
6. Make your own gift tags from last years Christmas cards. Embellish the gift tags with buttons, candy, scraps of ribbon, or glitter.
7. For a very large present purchase an inexpensive vinyl tablecloth. During the holidays inexpensive vinyl tablecloths are very easy to find. Place your large gift in the center of the tablecloth and wrap the way you would a normal sized present.Â
8. Wrap presents in the comic pages of a newspaper. This is great gift wrapping option for children and young adults. For extra fun go to a party store and purchase some inexpensive party supplies. Attach fun rings, pencils, and other novelty items to the bow.
9. Think ahead. Purchase holiday wrapping paper and ribbon after the holidays when it is discounted. Store the wrapping paper in a cool, dry space for the following year.
10. Instead of using expensive clear tape and double sided tape; try using a glue stick or hot glue gun.Â
Gift wrapping does not have to be an expensive tedious process. It just takes a little money and a lot of imagination and love!
It was an amazing concert last night!! The lasers, flames, musicians, singers, and they even made it snow in the Pepsi Center. TSO is soooo generous! Not only did they donate $5000 to Adopt A Family, but they also donated $1 from each tix sold to Season to Share program. Over $12,000...check out the pic
Just another Thanksgiving at the Plante house. Â Actually, we were in Missouri at my Mom and Dad's. Â It was a blast, great seeing my entire family. Â Now, let me explain the drama. Â Wyatt, my youngest son, had an asthma attack while on the farm in Missouri. Â We took him in at 3:30 in the morning to ER and everything turned out great. Â It wouldn't be a holiday at my house if no one went to the ER :) Â While we were playing kick ball....against my sister's family......my brothers dog jumped up on the stove and ate the turkey!! Â Thank god we had two turkey's ready to go :)Â
for taking part in our radioathon for the Ronald McDonalad House. Jay was in town and came to the house to say hi and Ian called allllllllllll the way from Calgary. He was in Calgary to play a game that night, but got up early to call. Awesome family man who cares about kiddo's.
Days of Our Lives just bumped two of the main characters...Marlena Evans, Deidra Hall, and John Black, Drake Hogestyn. I am so bummed! Marlena was my favorite and I've met her in person....amazing, kind person. She donated autograph items for our Ronald McDonald Radioathon. I just don't get it "Days"....dumb move!
I did a little decorating with my friend :) Actually A LOT....repainting practically the entire house. My friend Nancy is an interior decorator for Stickley Furniture...her house is amazing. She crashed at my house for the weekend and helped me pick out colors, frames, decorations....its a new house!! Love it :) Mike came home from hunting this weekend and his jaw dropped!! He actually loved it, what a relief :)
Was amazing!! My sister and I went to the concert Weds night....we loved it! I had only about 2 1/2 hrs sleep before work the next morning, but sooooooooo worth it!!
I went to see Kevin Nealon at Comedy Works the other night with some friends...the guy is hilarious and so nice! He chatted with us for about 30 minutes after show...very cool guy.
Yes the Christmas music is coming.....I love it! Â It's my favorite time of year. Â We will again have the 12 Choirs of Christmas....we feature 12 different school choirs during the morning show. Â They will sing beautiful holiday songs, you will love it. Â The kiddos do an amazing job. Â My beautiful niece, Brooklyn, is very excited. Â A Castle Rock school is featured and she goes to that school. Â She sings amazing, but is too shy to sing on air with us....I'm going to try and change her mind :)
I was on the edge of my seat last night! No matter what your political view, it was an exciting time. Murf and I have a great tribute on line...you have to hear it!! If you missed any part of it last night, we managed to take the highlights and putit in a 2 1/2 minute montage. It's on our "As Heard On Air" page.  Enjoy!
We're going to talk to Sheryl Crow tomorrow about getting out for early voting....its most important privilage we have.. I also have to ask her about her cute, little son Wyatt. Yup, she has a Wyatt too! She also has a killer Christmas album thatjust came out and I'm sure you'll hear plenty of it on KOSI 101.1......your home for the holidays :)
Mike and I decided to go as Sarah and Todd Palan....it turned out great!! Here's a pic of my sister as a witch and me as Sarah Palin. watcha think??? Mike was too shy to let me put his pic on the site :)
I did it! I made a delicious roast last night and my family actually ate it...all! I'm starting to try more recipes, getting out of my comfort zone. I'm thinking about taking cooking classes. My parents laugh, they've tried to teach me thru the years and have had no luck. Oh well, we get better with age....right? :)
I woke up from my nap yesterday and decided to go jogging....in my pj bottoms and sweatshirt. Is there really anything wrong with that? These days, pj bottoms are in style right? :) My husband and his friends made a HUGE deal out of it, couldn't believe I did it. I just don't see the big deal....do you? blog and let me know.
Thanks
The kids are wearing their Halloween costumes to school today, should be a lot of fun! Here's a pic of Austin, my 9 year old, in his "Army Guy" costume. He has a serious face, because he's an "army guy mom!"

murphy-dancing.wmvMurphy shakes his booty in between songs. The best part, he's not a very good dancer!! Well, he can definitely shake his booty! check out the video
Do you have a friend/relative...someone who lives on your block, that goes all out for Halloween? Â Check out the scariest haunted house on my block! Â go to Murphy & Denise and then hit "as heard on air" to watch video.
My 8 year old has been studying Sioux Indians in his 3rd grad class for a couple of weeks. He was asked to make a diorama featuring the tools and weapons they used. No problem right? Austin and I put it off until the night before....I know what you're thinking, not a good lesson to teach my son. I screwed up and forgot, it happens to all of us busy mom's at least once! Well, we went to the store and bought the props and printed out material from the internet. I spray painted a box and glued all the props, grass and information on it. I was pretty happy the way it turned out....we did a good job,. Afterall, its just 3rd grade...right? The next day my husband and I went to see the project in class as he did his report in front of other students and parents.  When I walked into the classroom, I was amazed!! Some of the parents/kids went all out and made incredible projects!! (The one with the moss was done by a boy in the class and his Grandpa) Okay as you can see, Austin's project turned out okay. What I didn't realize until I walked around the classroom and saw the back of Austin's project was "MARGARITA MANIA". Yes, I used the box my Margarita machine came in!! I win mom of the year award!!
I can't believe she remembered and kept her word!! What a cool celebrity! Deidre Hall was here in Denver for the DNC and we took a few pictures together. My camera wasn't working very well, so she said we could use her camera dn she would email me pic later. I thought I would never see the pic and would have to deal with my bad ones. Well, Friday she emailed it to me!!
You can watch Deidre on "Days of Our Lives" as the fantastic Marlana :)
Here's the most romantic redneck present I've ever received :) Mike gave me these as a joke when we went to Estes Park. I was griping I didn't have any earrings to wear that day.......guess I should stop complaning :)
I told you last Friday, Mike and I were heading to Estes Park for a little date weekend...no kids!! :) It was awesome! Our plan was to stay at the Stanley Hotel, yes the one from the movie "The Shining." I was kinda excited, people say the place is haunted...ooooooo :)  Well, how busy of a play can in be?? NO VANCANCY!! I guess I should of made reservations before driving up there. The only hotel we could find was Budget Hotel, yes I know...its not the Stanley. It still was incredible, we had so much fun. On the back deck there was a hot tub. As Mike and I shared a glass of wine in the hot tub under the beautiful Colorado sky, two Elk came up to see what was going on. I was a little nervous they were going to want to get in the tub with us, but it turned out okay. They were just a little curious. I wish I had my camera...it was amazing. Here are some other pics I took along our drive. I took them with my cell, so they're not the best quality...sorry.
Okay, I'm more light headed than normal this morning :) All of the jocks here at the station started feeling dizzy and then Murf yelled, "DO YOU SMELL THAT??" He thought he was having a flash back from the 60's :) It smelled like gas, so Gov calledthe fire dept and they checked it out. At one point , we had to leave the building...YIKES. Everything turned out okay, not sure what the smell was.
Host a swap party
Pick up a couple bottles of wine and some cheese and crackers, and tell all of your friends to bring a few items from theirclosets that they no longer wear. It's a great way to get new pieces and clean out your closet in the process. As a general rule, if you haven't worn it in a year, it's time to pass it on.
Have you ever played? I'm waiting for the Olympics to make it a sport!! I thought I was great, until I played my boys yesterday....even my 5 year old kicked my booty. Listne, he got me in tennis and boxing, but I won in bowling. That's right, Momma's a rockin' WII bowler :) I'm not the best at boxing, but its a great cardio workout and its fun!
Denver baby! I chatted with Luke on Colorado & Company about his gig on Law & Order: SVU yesterday, he mentioned his love for the Nuggets. Okay, not just love...PASSION! He said he wanted to coach the team and possibly move here!! Watch the interview on my Celebrity Interview page. He will always be Dylan in my heart :)
Wyatt told me he had a surprise in my purse, it was a present to bring to work. I told him I would look in the morning and I was very excited to see my present. I noticed my purse was a little heavy the next morning and then I remembered....the present. One peek in my purse and I knew what it was....a giant ROCK!! Gotta love being a mom of boys :)
Today is the anniversary of 9/11. Drive with your lights on, leave your flag at half mass, wear red, white and blue.   Big Bill's New York Pizza is giving away free food for the 8th annual Day of Caring. All donations will go to help the researchof Dr. Yosef Refaeli at National Jewish Medical Center to help fight Leukemia and Lymphoma cancer. He's an amazing man with a heart of gold!
Check out my celeb iv's and watch video of Jerry Springer and David Hasselhoff. Is Hoff slurring a bit?? Hmmmmm.
Oh here's a funny story for ya. My son Austin told me I looked sad because my cheeks were drooping. I told him that's what happens when you get old...you get wrinkles. He said he saw a commercial on tv that will get rid of my wrinkles 100%. I said, "that was probably a botox commercial." He said, "nope, it was some lotion the lady wiped on her face."
I joined Colorado Athletic Club and I'm pretty excited about it. During the day, I try and walk and lift weights everynow and then. I really need to do it on a daily basis and stay focused. It's so hard to get motivated....whine, whine, whine! I figure if I signed up and go to the club, I will be forced to workout. Let me know if you workout there and how you like it. I'm going to start this week, so I'm pretty excited!
Steve Cassidy and I were at the Ronald McDonald House and had the opportunity to meet an awesome girl named Jennifer....she has the best smile in the world!
My family went to the art fest over the weekend in Castle Rock and guess who we saw?? Yes Dog and his wife shopping for merchandise! Of course I had to take a pic. My son ran to my husband Mike and said..."Dad, Mom made me take a picture with a dog catcher!!"
They came in today with chocolate and cheese......mmmmmmmmmmmm, love that place! Murf ate all of the vegetables and cheese, no chocolate. What's wrong with that man!! We'll have another Denise's Deal for you next Thursday :)
Even the celebs were chasing this guy! I have to be honest...he's had little too much botox!! I know you can't tell i this pic, but trust me. Gosh, hope I don't get in trouble for this!
Murf and I chatted on air today with Janice about her new season on the Oxygen channel. She is truly a ball of fire, just like you see her on the show. She's the type of person that really has no filter...but she means well, I think?? Have you seen the show? Do you like her? This is an interactive blog, so feel free to chat with me and let me know your thoughts :)Â
Barack Obama accepted the nomination tonight for President of the United States at Invesco Field and the stars alligned to see it happen.  Here are some the celebrity sightings from downtown Denver: Jennifer Hudson sounded amazing over 80,000 yes we can, then thanking the clintons...hear cheering ashley judd...I saw her with an older lady, could be mother in law...she's married to race car driver franchettie??(not sure if that's how you spell)  funny, a lot of people didn't recognize her.fergieI think I saw Eva Longoria, not sure...with a group of girls, where's Tony Parker?  is he in town? What an incredible night at the Pepsi center last night. President Bill Clinton, Senator Joe Biden and yes...Barack Obama made the stage. I had a chance to chat with many celebs who came to Denver to support the DNC. Jesse Jackson, Chevy Chase, Jamie Foxx, Deidre Hall from Days of Our Lives, and Robert Kennedy took time to talk with me. Check out the pics on my dirt page!
Charlize Theron was spotted chowing at Elways yesterday, Debra Messinger crossing the 16th Street Mall, Rob Riggle from Jon Stewart Daily show downtown and Sandi Jackson (Jesse Jackson Junior's wife) shopping at Mariel. Murf and I still haven't seen Oprah...girl where are you??
It was a blast!! It was closed Saturday night to welcome media for DNC and boy, did Denver put on a show. Over 6,000 people attended and Governor Ritter and Mayor Hickenlooper did an awesome job kicking it all off. I actually scored two giant stuffed animals for my boys...whew hoo!
Well, I decided to do a little grilling yesterday evening. Ahhhh, what a perfect evening to throw a few patties on the gril for the kids....wait, what just hit my head?? Ouch, my shoulder, my face...it's hailing!! Then I saw them...yes them!! Threetornado's by my house. Check out the video I took...pretty cool. Thanks goodness it didn't do any damage.
My son Wyatt has started kindergarden this year. He asked me before school, with a concern look on his face, "what if I have to go to the bathroom?" I told him to tell the teacher and she will let him go. "What if I don't know where it is?" I told him the teacher would hold his hand and take him. "What if she has a robotic hand mommy?" "She doesn't have a robotic hand Wyatt."...."but what if she does and it falls off!" I told him to hold her other hand. He said, "but what if that hand is robotic?" I told him just to pee his pants! Kids ask questions just to ask questions...don't they??
MADONNA may be coming to town next week for the DNC!! Okay I'll admit it, I'm a stalker :) My sis and I are big fans of Madonna and will be at her concert in November, but its just wierd that she may be shopping at the 16th Street Mall next month. Its going to be crazy!! I've been invited to a few events, so I'll be sure post any pics I get on line.
Last night was PJ night for the kindergarten class and Wyatt was very excited to wear is Sponge Bob PJ's. He wasn't very excited about taking a picture withhis teacher :) I told you he was shy! I was able to capture this pic and I think it says it all!! :)
School starts tomorrow for the boys!! I can't believe it! Austin will be in 3rd grade and Wyatt is now a big kid in Kindergarten, I want to cry. Is that normal? I feel so anxious everytime I think about my baby going to school. Mike and I met the teachers yesterday. Austin will have the same teacher he did in 1st grade and he loves her, so that's a relief. Wyatt met his teacher also yesterday. It started pretty slow, because Wyatt is so shy. Once the teacher mentioned Star Wars, they became life long friends :) Wyatt LOVES Star Wars and her husband collects the action figures. We all left in a great mood and a with a big smile....I'm still afraid I'm going to cry tomorrow when I drop him off! :(
I'm getting my kitchen redone by Granite Transformations...it looks amazing so far! They already did the countertops and used recycleable glass. My countertops are crushed beer bottles!! I know it sounds funny, but it looks sooooo good and it's good for the enviorment. All of my neighbors came down to see the results and fell in love. I'm now getting my cabinets refaced. I had to clean out my cabinets, in order for them to do their work. I had no idea I had sooooooo much junk in there! I found coffee mugs, water bottles and even pans that I haven't seen in years. I told Murf we should start a new game...."What's in Denise's cabinet?" You guess it, you win it....if you want it :)
My friend Glynis Albright is not only one of the best cooks on the planet, but she's now a TV star!!
Glynis Albright of Just Sweet Enough will appear on the new Food Network show entitled "Road Tasted with the Neelys" on August 5th. Â During that episode, she will introduce those of us who aren't already familiar with, her Sweet Potato Poundcake (as seen in the photo). Â The Neelys' hosting of "Road Tasted" takes them all over the nation in search for family-owned businesses that produce unique products that can be delivered right to your front door.Â
I am so proud of her!! Make sure you watch :)
We had so much fun yesterday at the Applebee's Lunch Bunch with our listeners. Check out this pic of Conner, he's about 1 1/2. He kept looking at Murf in that silly hat....doesn't he look like Mel from Mel's Diner?? After the Lunch Bunch I took my two boys to Jungle Quest and then we hit Chuck E Cheese, yes I was trying to completely tucker them out! Guess what, it worked!! We didn't get home until about 8pm and they went straight to bed. LOVE IT!! Here's a sketch they did together at Chuck E Cheese, I want to pinch their cheeks...they're so darn cute!
I volunteered in my son Austin's class yesterday, always lots of fun. The teachers put on a pep rally for the kids and Austin's teacher dressed up and performed as Hanna Montana....she rocked the joint. The kids went crazy. She told me privately that she was soooo nervous and watched Hanna on youtube all night long to prepare for the big day. It really turned out cute. Teachers have such a demanding job and when you come across a teacher like my son's that still has the passion, love and fun for the kids, it's really cool. After Austin's class, I had to boogie to take Wyatt..he's my 5 year old...to soccer practice. That boy lives, breaths and LOVES soccer!
Guess who I saw there?? Yes, MONA!! Just in case your new to the station, Mona is a woman I met last summer at the pool. I was there with my son Wyatt and she was there with her son who is 7. They were playing in the pool with a bunch of kids, when her son decided to punch little Wyatt in the back of the head. Wyatt was upset, she told her son to get out of the pool. I calmed Wyatt down and walked him over so the kids could make up. She just looked at me and said, "What!" Dang lady, RELAX is what I wanted to say. Instead I said, "I thought the kids could make up." She told me her son hit my son, big deal... he's doesn't have to apologize.  Well, it was on from there!
As the summer went on, she made snide remarks with her catty friends at the pool and I talked about it on air. Guess what? They listen to KOSI!!! Thank goodness I changed her name to MONA :) She ended up being a volunteer in my 8 year olds classroom, like I am. The drama has been going on ever since. I hadn't seen her in a while....until soccer. I said hello and she said, "Do you think Wyatt will be able handling getting hit in this sport?" Yes at that point I wanted to deck her. I replied, "Has your son learned to apologize yet?" She told me that she believes saying sorry is a sign of weakness and she tells her boys to learn from their mistakes, but NEVER say you're sorry. GOSH, I didn't know what kind of nut job I was actually dealing with!! Now we just walk past each other and you can guess what goes thru each of our minds. It's gonna be a crazy summer!
Last night was Bon Jovi's concert, I heard it was amazing. How did I hear? My friend Kathy went with Mark McIntosh, yes my cohost from "Colorado & Company." They're practically married, just haven't actually taken the walk :) She called... A FEW TIMES...during the concert. Mark bought the tix for a Valentines gift, so they were definitely having fun! While she was rockin' to Bon Jovi, I was reading Ben 10 to my five year Wyatt trying to get him to sleep. Oh, the fun life of busy mom...right? It was actually a lot of fun reading to him last night, he started correcting me! I called Ben Bob at one point! He said, "Mom, we could do this again another night if you're too tired." Love my boys :)
