Greeley Third Grader Not Allowed To Wear Peyton Manning Jersey To School

A Greeley, Colorado third-grader is not allowed to wear his #18, Peytong Manning Denver Broncos' Jersey to school because of an anti-gang clothing policy at Weld County School District 6. According to the District's Dress-code, certain numbers are related to gangs and are not allowed in their schools. The policy is district-wide, so that means all schools, elementary through high-school must follow the dress code.

A Greeley-Evans School District Spokesperson told 9NEWS:

"We're really trying to eliminate or minimize the presence of gangs in our schools," Fiedler said. "There are gangs in the community. We take a very aggressive stance in keeping that activity and that behavior off of school grounds. Part of that is banning some of the colors numbers and others insignia that are closely identified with gangs."

Certain colors and jerseys sporting the numbers 13, 14, 18, 31, 41 or 81 are not allowed, according to the District's Dress Code.
