Maybell, Colorado Makes Weather Channel's List of Coldest Temperatures Recorded

We are all talking about how cold it got last night and this morning as we gear up for winter, but how about -61 degrees? That is the coldest temperature recorded in the small town of Maybell, Colorado on Feb. 1, 1985. Maybell made "The Weather Channel's 10 Coldest Temperatures in U.S. History" list.

The rugged high country of northwest Colorado is home to the tiny town of Maybell, which lies about an hour's drive from the entrance to Dinosaur National Monument, one of the largest known deposits of dinosaur fossils anywhere in the world.
It's also home to Colorado's coldest temperature on record: 61 degrees below zero on Feb. 1, 1985.
