nothing like a good funeral story!!

Hey ted...thanks for sharing this one..... A man was leaving a convenience store with his morning coffee when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 Feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking single file. The man couldn't stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the man walking the dog and said: "I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?" "My wife's." ''What happened to her?" "She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her." He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?" The man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her." A very poignant and touching moment of brotherhood and silence passed between the two men. "Can I borrow the dog?" The man replied, "Get in line."

watch out for your wife!!

this is priceless!
Job at the FBI   The FBI had an opening for an assassin.   After all the background checks, interviews And testing were done, there were 3 finalists; Two men and a woman. For the final test, the FBI agents took one of The men to a large metal door and handed him a gun. 'We must know that you will follow your instructions no matter what the circumstances. Inside the room you will find your wife sitting in a chair ... . . Kill her!!' The man said, 'You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife.' The agent said, 'Then you're not the right man for this job. Take your wife and go home.' The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room.. All was quiet for about 5 minutes. The man came out with tears in his eyes, 'I tried, but I can't kill my wife.' The agent said, 'You don't have what it takes. Take your wife and go home.' Finally, it was the woman's turn.. She was given the same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one after another.  They heard screaming, crashing, banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the woman, wiping the sweat from her brow.   'This gun is loaded with blanks' she said.  'I had to beat him to death with the chair.' MORAL: Women are crazy. Don't mess with them

it does not take a rocket scientist!!

This is a great story about smart guys not being to smart....
Rocket Science
Too funny  not to share!  Sometimes it does take a  rocket  scientist!       Scientists  at NASA built a gun specifically to  launch  standard 4  pound dead chickens at the windshields  of  airliners,  military jets and the space shuttle, all   traveling  at maximum  velocity.  The idea is to simulate the  frequent  incidents of  collisions with airborne fowl to test the  strength  of the  windshields. British engineers heard about the  gun and were eager  to test it  on the windshields of their new high speed  trains.   Arrangements  were made, and a gun was sent to the  British  engineers.  When the gun  was fired, the engineers stood shocked as     the chicken  hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the  shatterproof  shield,  smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the  control  console,  snapped the engineer's back-rest in two,  and  embedded  itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an  arrow  shot from a  bow. The  horrified Brits sent NASA the  disastrous results  of the  experiment, along with the designs of  the  windshield  and begged the U.S. . scientists  for  suggestions. NASA responded  with a  one-line memo --                  "Defrost the  chicken." (True  Story)

ever had a boss like this?

I think we have all worked for a boss like this....this is a true story
The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers. On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall. The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business. He asked the guy, "How much money do you make a week?" A little surprised, the young man looked at him and said, "I make $400 a week. Why?" The CEO said, "Wait right here." He walked back to his office, came back in two minutes, and handed the guy $1,600 in cash and said, "Here's four weeks' pay. Now GET OUT  and don't come back." Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?" From across the room a voice said, "Pizza delivery guy from Domino's."

Words of advice from your Irish friend

The way I look at it...you never stop learning in life...well if you believe that, here are some words of wisdom to share....
1. AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP. 2. AVOID ARGUMENTS WITH THE FEMALES ABOUT LIFTING THE TOILET SEAT BY USING THE SINK. 3. FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERERS ~ SIMPLY CUT YOURSELF AND BLEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, THUS REDUCING THE PRESSURE ON YOUR VEINS. REMEMBER TO USE A TIMER. 4. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON. 5. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF LAXATIVES. THEN YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH. 6. YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.  7. IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.  THOUGHT for the day:  SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN THEY'RE PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS SOME ADDITIONAL ADVICE:  NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAKE A LAXATIVE AND SLEEPING PILLS ON THE SAME NIGHT...

Thanks for all the interest in my daughter Haley and her 2nd child on the way.  The baby is 3 days overdue and the whole family is a wreck.  Poor Haley won't even answer her phone because she knows it's one of the family asking how she is...any contractions yet??  WOW..you would think it's the first child ever born.  Ok...I'm no different and the expecting grandfather.  In fact I was sent  by the rest of  them to sneak over to the poor girl's house to see if everything is ok.  It went well until one of the guys who works for the townhome complex snuck-up on me to ask what I was doing...scared me to death.  It took me ten minutes to explain..then he wanted Haley to indentify me as her father....she was so mad I didn't think she was going to do it!!!

One of the best things about living in Colorado is the weather.  It is starting to get warmer and the golf clubs are coming out.  I was hitting some chip shots in the backyard yesterday and one got away.  Not to bad only it went over my fence and beaned my neighbor Paul....yes he is just fine.  However I now owe him a barbque....it could have been worse

I look forward to this every year!!

I thought I knew some crazy people....read these!
Stella  Awards                    It’s time again for the annual "Stella Awards." For  those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the  McDonald's in New Mexico , where she purchased  coffee. You remember, she took the lid off  the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could  get burned doing that, right? That's right;  these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits  and verdicts in the U.S.

Here  are the Stella’s for the past year:
   * SEVENTH  PLACE *
Kathleen  Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $80,000 by  a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle  tripping over a toddler who was running inside a  furniture store.  The store owners were  understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.

*  SIXTH PLACE *
Carl  Truman, 19, of Los Angeles, California, won  $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor  ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

*  FIFTH PLACE *
Terrence  Dickson, of Bristol, Pennsylvania , who was  leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of  the garage.  Unfortunately for Dickson, the  automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he  could not get the garage door to open.  Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked  when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit  for eight, count 'em, EIGHT days and survive on a  case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he  sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental anguish.  Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson  $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have  this kind of anguish.  Keep scratching...  There are more......
*  FOURTH PLACE *
Jerry  Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th  Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500  plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's  fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as  he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt  bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a  pellet gun.

*  THIRD PLACE *
Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, because a jury  ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her  $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink  and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft  drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it  at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.

*SECOND  PLACE*
Kara  Walton, of Claymont , Delaware, sued the owner of  a night club in a nearby city because she fell  from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking  out her two front teeth. Even though  Ms.Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay  her $12,000 ..... oh, yeah, plus dental expenses.
*  FIRST PLACE *
This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was:  Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway,  she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich.  Not  surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not  surprisingl, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for  not putting in the owner's manual that she  couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while  the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma  jury awarded her -- are you sitting down? ---  $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any  relatives who might also buy a motor home.

Hey guys...this could happen to you!!

You know I love to grocery shop.  I save coupons, I love saving the money.  It has become a sport  to see how much I can save.  Then I justify my golf expenses to Carol by saying...look how much I save at the grocery store last week!!...however take a look at this poor guy.  This is why I shop alone...
Husband Down
A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart.
The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.
'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife.
'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans he replies.
'Put them back, we can't afford them demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping.
A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.
What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband.
'Its my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife.
Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price.'
On the PA system: 'Cleanup on aisle 25, we have a husband down.'

this is so true....

Here is a great cowboy story... A cowboy named Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in California when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust. The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, RayBan sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?" Bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?"  The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg , Germany .. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer, turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves." "That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says Bud. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on with amusement as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car. Then Bud says to the young man, "If I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?" The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?" "You're a Congressman for the U.S. Government", says Bud. "Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?" "No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You used millions of dollars worth of equipment trying to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a thing about how working  people make a living - or about cows, for that matter. This is a herd of sheep. ..... Now give me back my dog.

it's a day late....but funny!!

I got this late yesterday...still funny today..enjoy!! HAPPY ST.PATRICK'S DAY !!! An Irishman goes into the confessional  box after years of being away from the  Church. There's a fully equipped bar with  Guinness on tap. On the  other wall is a dazzling array of the  finest cigars and chocolates.  Then the priest comes in. "Father,  forgive me, for it's been a  very long time since I've  been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be."  The priest replies: "Get  out. You're on my side."

Did you make the parade?

We were all in the big St. Patrick's day parade on Saturday.   I think that makes 23 years for me and I don't remember a bigger crowd.  They were all having a great time and so were we thanks to the Parrot heads and their wild float.  Also thanks to Ambassador Limo for the wonderful vehicle we were in.  The only mistake I made was the fact I saw my grandaughter along the parade route and I tossed her one of the many necklaces I had on.  Well..the one I tossed ..by mistake..was one that had a litter beer mug on the end of it.  Yes it looked like it was full of beer...however fake.  Well Caelee is 5 and should not be wearing that necklace.....yes I'm in touble again.  Even though she loved it..from her PaPoo!

30 years ago today...where were you?

It was 30 years ago today that the USA beat the big bad Russinas in hockey at the olympics.  What a time in our history of sports.  What were you doing?...watching the game?  I remember exactly what was happening in my life.  I was working in Milwaukee, that asme night as the game we had tickets to the ballet.  I know, you are right I was a bit crazy about going to the ballet and missing the big game.  Well at that time we recorded everything on our VCRs..no DVR back then.  I set the thing to record the game.  I'm thinking ,    I'm at the ballet, I will never hear the score.  I'll keep the car radio off driving home and watch the game when I get home....AHHHH the perfect plan.  I keep my wife happy at the ballet and I watch the game later.  WELL...the silly ballet is about half over, when all of sudden they STOP the show...and...you guessed it, they announce the score and the big USA win.  Life over as I know it......

yes..it was eye shadow

On Sunday I was playing SALON with my granddaughter Caelee.  She, at age 4, has all the stuff. You know, nail polish, eye shadow, lip gloss..all of it.  I was allowing her to do my nails and my eyes.  Well, I washed off the nail polish but forgot about the eye shadow.  I mean there was not alot of it, but enough to see.  Between the 2 big games on Sunday, Carol asked me to run to the store to pick up some snacks.  You can only imagine the rest, I remember some of the folks in the store looking at me, didn't think a thing of it.  It was really strange when I was checking out and the checker was really looking at me.  I'm thinking she thinks I'm good looking, I felt flattered.  When I got home everyone was laughing as I walked in, Caelee says to me...Paapoo, you forgot to wash off the eye shadow, you wore it to the store...OH MY.  I'll never live that one down...plus I won't be allowed into King Soopers either!!

I finally did it!!

I finally put up my Christmas lights on Thursday..the last warm day of the month I'm sure.  My neighbors always mock me when I put them up this early.  Now keep in mind I don't turn them on until Thanksgiving day.  However by then my neighbors are out in the cold trying to get their lights up.  Carol thinks I went overboard this year with the amount of lights I put up.  I don't think a thousand is to much, do you?  Well ,we will find out.  If your house lights dim on Thanksgiving evening when I turn those babies on, I guess it is to many......

Some fun for your Monday

It's always good to start the week off with a smile...especially when it comes from children...enjoy
Why we love children?  1) NUDITY I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, 'Mom, that lady isn't wearing a seat belt!' 2) OPINIONS Onthe first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, 'The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents.' 3) KETCHUP A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. 'Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle.' 4) MORE NUDITY A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, 'What's the matter, haven't you ever seen a little boy before?' 5) POLICE # 1 While taking a routine vandalism report at an elementary school, I was interrupted by a little girl about 6 years old.. Looking up and down at my uniform, she asked, 'Are you a cop? Yes,' I answered and continued writing the report.. My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?' 'Yes, that's right,' I told her. 'Well, then,' she said as she extended her foot toward me, 'would you please tie my shoe?'  6) POLICE # 2 It was the end of the day when I parked my police van in front of the station. As I gathered my equipment, my K-9 partner, Jake , was barking, and I saw a little boy staring in at me. 'Is that a dog you got back there?' he asked. 'It sure is,' I replied. Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then towards the back of the van. Finally he said, 'What'd he do?' 7) ELDERLY While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs.. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth fairy will never believe this!' 8) DRESS-UP A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, 'Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit.' 'And why not, darling?'  'You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning.' 9) DEATH While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt.  Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin.. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased.  The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: 'Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into the hole he goooes.' (I want this line used at my funeral!)
10) SCHOOL A little girl had just finished her first week of school. 'I'm just wasting my time,' she said to her mother. 'I can't read, I can't write, and they won't let me talk!' 11) BIBLE A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.   'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out..   'What have you got there, dear?' With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'

I was more scared than she was!!

The other day I took Caelee  to Toys-R-Us to check out the goodies for Christmas.  It's never to early to do advance scouting for Santa Claus.  We were by Park Meadows Mall and right next door there used to be a book store.  It is gone and they have put in a temporary Halloween store in there.  Well, I thought it would fun to take Caelee in there to look around, she is only 4.  I thought it might be a little scary for her.  We walk in and the first thing that happens is a large bat flys out of the rafters and right at us.  I let a little scream, like a sissy. Not Caelee, she thought it was cool and says to me....."don't worry PaPoo it's only fake".....that felt good

It's good to get away

We all need that get away moment.  Just you and that special loved one.  Carol and I had a chance over the weekend.  Went to Tucson to the La Paloma resort.  Great place..best of all it was just me a Carol.  She even played Golf with me, well at least drove the golf cart.  On the last tee box I saw a Bobcat looking right at me...I must have looked like a big lamb chop to him.  He just walked off after getting to within 10 feet.

It was a special day

I hope you had a chance to participate in the Race For The Cure on Sunday.  If so I thank you on behalf of wife and thousands of others involved at some level with breast cancer.  We walked with our family at Wash Park, not into the massive crowds downtown.  I was surprised at how many walked there, it was great.  My wife went through that cancer thing over 12 years ago, I can remember it like it was yesterday.  It was hard on her of course, but what it does to the rest of the family is almost as hard.  Thank goodness for our belief and great friends, we made it.  Carol is still healthy today, I love her and don't know what I would have done if things had gone wrong.  If you are one of those who helped us along the bumpy road...I thank you everyday in prayer

Next Time you think you are having a bad day think of this

This is very funny yet very painful at the same time.  Next time you are having a bad day remember this story...poor guy!!
THE JELLYFISH BAD DAY

Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 FM in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who was sponsoring a worst job experience  contest. Needless to say, she won.
Hi Sue, Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job. As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of year the water is quite cool. So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water heater.  This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose. Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints. What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi. Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. With in a few seconds my butt started to burn...I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened.
The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it..  However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate.  When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my butt. I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructi ons were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically. Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression. When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet. As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.... So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt. Now repeat to yourself, 'I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.' Now whenever you have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day? May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day!!!!! Pass this on to all your friends, just in case they're having a bad day!!!

Did you ever notice the harder you try to do something the harder it is to do it.  For years I've been telling Carol, my wife, I've got to slow down.  I'm always busy doing things both work and personal.  The days all seem to run together, I find it hard to keep up.  OH you feel the same way.  Carol says it's your fault, just say no.  However the harder I try to do that the more I find myself involved...what do you do?  I'm looking for some...just say no ..tips

Thanks for being part of the 3-day walk

You might know that my wife is a breast cancer survivor and I couldn't be more thankful.  I appreciate everyday with her.  I was so glad to be part of the 3 day walk for breast cancer.  You raised 1.8 million dollars to find a cure for this dreadful disease.  Take a look at some of the pictures I took with the walkers....thanks for going the 60 miles for a cure.  These walkers are from all over america. p1010008 p1010009 p1010010

I was almost killed!!!

Had a great time at the VOA Legend golf tournament on Thursday.  We raised alot of money for the cause and played a wonderful golf course...the Sanctuary.  We had baseball hall of famer Goose Gossage as our guest.  He lives in the Springs, born and raised there.  What a great guy, had some great baseball stories and you know how much I love baseball.  The worst part of the day was almost getting my knee caps knocked off by a golf ball hit by my buddy Keith.  I was standing close to him as he shot and the ball went directly right ...almost hitting me..WOW.  Here is a picture of  Goose, me and Jim White and the golf dinner and auction. goose

home at last

Sorry I've been out of touch these last few weeks.  It was the annual Huston sweat tour.  This year a bit longer becasuse of a family wedding.  Why is it when you get the whole family together you realize just how nuts they all are.  Then you wonder if that think that about you...of course they do.  It was great seeing the whole family, our folks are still alive but getting very old so they don't travel.  It's up to us to make the effort to see them, so you do, even though it gets tough to see them get old.  However whatever you heard about mosquitos in the midwest is all true..they are big and dangerous.  You can't hide from them, repellent does not work and you smell like deet.  I have so many bites I'm trying to recover from, I feel like I was their target practice.  Good to be back in time to pay the bills

On the Sweat Tour!!!

Hey you all, it's time  for the annual Huston sweat tour.  All of our family is in the midwest for the most part.  So every year I pack it up and spend 2 weeks mooching off relatives.  It really do enjoy it, I know it's a long time to be gone but I will check in.  Remember to take the time that you have to enjoy your family and friends.

what a view!!!

It's always so true, we live so close to those beautiful mountains we look at everyday.  But how often do we get up there.  I'm as guilty as you are, Carol and I haven't been to Breckenridge in years.  We used to go up there all the time when the kids were younger.  We went up last weeken as I had to MC athe NRO concert, what a great group of kids.  It was so beautiful in Breckenridge, I felt quilty it had been so long  since we had been there.  If it's the same for you and your family, just look at these pictures I took with my phone and you will be up there next week. 07-18-09_1602     07-18-09_1601

How Was The Weekend?

WOW that weekend went by rapidly.  I hope yours was fun and family oriented.  We had a wedding on the 4th , despite the rain it was fun.  Enjoyed some fireworks with friends.  But what I really enjoyed was the annual family parade in Stonegate, near Parker.  My daughters live near there and we always get the granchildren all decked out fourth of July style.  Hundreds of families show up, we walk behind a hugh South Metro fire truck.  Afterwards ther is snow cones, face painting and lots of fun.  I really enjoy the pre-parade, when the boy scouts present the colors and we all sing the National Anthem.  You talk about the all-american 4th of July, this is truly one.  Take a look at the pictures, Greyson went nuts with the fire truck. june_2009_08212 june_2009_09213

You gotta love his music

I haven't said much since the passing of Micheal Jackson.  But in my opinion there are 2 of him.  You have the highly talented singer and dancer of 70's and 80's fame.  Then you have this guy ,who I don't know, that has many plastic surgeries, dangle kids off balconies and has many issues.  That is accused of many things, many not good.  After the past few days since his death, watching and listening I choose one to remember.  I pick the highly entertaining and talented Micheal Jackson.  I had the chance to see him in concert at the old McNichols arena..it's one concert I won't forget.  Also ,now it is apparent he was fairly generous with his money, helping many causes.  Take a look at this mural that is a tribute to him.  It is painted on the side of an old building at 3rd and Ashley in Longmont.  That's the guy I will remember.. mjacksonmural

Pleasant surprise

Went on a golf trip with the boys over the weekend and one of the stops was Trinidad.  I know, you think it is only known for ONE OF THOSE sex change operations.  However the town is quite nice and the people are very pleasant.  A restaurant by the name of Rino's was recommended.  It's Italian and has been there awhile. Used to be a church we found out later.  We were told that the owner sings, as well as most of the help. We thought, oh well let's check it out.  WOW, what a great time, the food was excellent and so was the singing.  Everything from Italian opera to Celine Dion and Phantom of the Opera music.  Next time you head that way, don't drive past Trinidad.  Stop and check out Rinos... you will love it

in trouble again

I just thought it would save time, but Carol thought differently.  On Monday I was helping to clean windows with my folks coming to town.  Isn't it funny how puckered -up we still get when our parents are around.  Anyhow, our small bathroom window sits over a portion of our roof that covers the patio.  As I was cleaning from the inside a piece of the window fell out on the roof.  I couldn't reach it and the thought of going to get the ladder climb-up there and get the piece was not inviting.  Well, my granddaughter Caelee was helping me with the project.  It struck me that I could stick her out the window, hang on to her arm and she could reach the piece I needed.  I had her about half out the window, feet first, when Carol walked in and saw what I was doing.  Yes she went a little nuts, I guess I should have thought that through a bit more.  I should be through sleeping in the garage by the 4th of July...

Now I know why

The other day I was complaining about doing some planting with Carol.  She so loves getting her gardens ready for the summer.  Idon't like it at all.  After I starting thinking about it I couldn't figure out why I don't like planting those darn bulbs.  It makes the yard look great!  It's something I can do with my wife.  What is it I don't like.  Well as I was planting many bulbs I turned around and saw why I don't like the job.  It's because as fast as I plant, my two dogs are digging them back up to play with them.  Then I have to replant them..I swear as I am replanting the two of them are now at the other side of the yard smiling at me.  Is that just my imagination???

What is Memorial Day..just a long weekend?

I know we are all excited about this weekend.  The unoffical start of summer is what we think...3 days off.  It's about men and women who have died for us defending our country and what it stands for.  Take a moment over your long weekend to give thanks for  what they have given us.  Attend the parade downtown on Saturday at 10am.  Head over to Logan cemetary where many service men and women are buried.  They always have a special ceremony.  The least you can do is remember to fly your flag all weekend long.  It's great to have the family around, to have that picnic.  Just remember that it is Memorial Day...more than just a long weekend..

Well I'm blogging you on the the new web page.  I hope you see this.  I know change is tough for us but in this crazy radio business it is constant.  It keeps the brain cells motivated...what I have left after over 40 years in the business.  I don't know what is happening out there, but all of sudden we are being asked to talk about fund raisers for children in need.  It always makes me feel bad to hear about our kids hurting. Please ,sometime today, give your child a big hug and tell them you love them.  Have a great weekend....

Happy Cinco De Mayo!!....have a taco today!! We wrapped up Quarters for kids yesterday with big Victory Breakfast at Strings.  I love this big finale!!  All the kids bring in their quarters, tell us how they raised the money.  It's all about the kids helping kids.  A quarter will feed a child in a homeless shelter a breakfast to start their day.  We've done this campaign for over 19 years.  Rocky, the Nuggets Mascot, and Mark Randall were on hand to help us.  Thousands of dollars were raised all in quarters.  Take a look at the picture of the kids at Rolling Hills Elementary school.  See all the quarters on the tables?...great job.

So the other night Carol and I went to see a play...A Prayer for Owen Meany..very good.  When we got home we discovered that Bailey, one of our dogs, had not been good.  Carol the day before had just baked two loaves of Banana bread, one with chocolate chips.  We placed them way back on the counter in the kitchen so Bailey, the big dog, would not get at them.  Well you guessed it , he got both of them.  I was freaked, I couldn't sleep all night long,I heard Bailey walking around.  I was sure he was going to do something really nasty in the house because he was sick.  Well , he never got sick thank goodness.  Plus he got the last laugh, he finally went to sleep and I couldn't...awake..until I came to work.  Oh, don't forget, he also got all of the delicious Banana bread !!

I'm just sitting here at work thinking about my busy weekend ahead.  I'm MC'ing Loyola schools big fund raiser on Saturday night.  Yes the same Loyola where Carol, my wife, is the kindergarten teacher.  I MC alot of events throughout the year, it never bothers me.  So why I am getting nervous about this one.  It's always alot of fun, but I guess because it's where my wife works I get a little jacked up.  I know it will be fine.  I also know to help take that edge off Sister Mary Ellen, the school principal will slip me a Coors Light....that I look forward to.  Have a great weekend!!

I hope you all survived the much needed winter blast.  It's funny how we all forget how lto drive in this kind of weather, we do it every year, and how we panic a bit about being snowed in.  Thursday beforae the storm actually really hit I ran to the grocery store to get some milk.  I couldn't believe how many people were in line to check out with baskets loaded up with food like it was the end of world.  I feel the most sorry for our pets, especially the dogs.  I mean you have to let them out to do their deed, but they have such  hard time because of the snow.  They can't find their..spot..or the snow levels are to deep to squat accordingly.  Poor Dublin, one of my dogs, tried to squat, got all freaked out.  She came back to the door with half the job still hanging out if you know what I mean.  So there I am, snow blowing around, trying to clean off the you know what.  OH, what we do for our pets

Hey everybody I like to share stuff I get that I think you should be aware of.  This credit card scam comes from a lawyer friend who is very reliable...so beware. Bank of Canada received this communication about the newest scam.    This is happening in southern Alberta right now and moving. This one is  pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the  one piece they want.. Note, the callers do not ask for your card number;  they already have it.    This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA &  MasterCard telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared  to protect yourself. One of our employees was called on Wednesday from  'VISA', and I was called on Thursday from 'MasterCard'.    The scam works like this:      Person calling says, 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security  and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460 , Your card has  been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify.  This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did  you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a marketing  company based in Arizona ?' When you say 'No', the caller continues  with, 'Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a  company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497,  just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your  next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is  that correct?'    You say 'yes'.    The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud Investigation. If you  have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back  of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to refer  to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do  you need me to read it again?'    Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works:    The caller then says, 'I need to verify you are in possession of your  card'. He'll ask you to 'turn your card over and look for some numbers'.  There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the last  3 are the Security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card.    These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to  prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the last 3  numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say,  'That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been  lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other  questions?'    After you say no, the caller then thanks you and states, 'Don't hesitate  to call back if you do', and hangs up. You actually say very little, and  they never ask for or tell you the card number.    But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back. Within 20 minutes  to ask a question. Are we were glad we did! The REAL VISA Security  Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new  purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card.    We made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is  reissuing us a new number.. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN  number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell  them you'll call VISA or Master Card directly for verification of their  conversation.    The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card  as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you  give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a  credit.. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges  for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or  more difficult to actually file a fraud report.    What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a  'Jason Richardson of MasterCard' with a Word-for-word repeat of the VISA  Scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police  report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several  of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know  that this scam is happening. I dealt with a similar situation this  morning, with the caller telling me that $3,097 had been charged to my  account for plane tickets to Spain , and so on through the above routine.    It appears that this Is a very active scam, and evidently quite successful.

happy first day of Spring.  Even though it has felt like Spring since the middle of February.  Can you believe the trees and flowers are beginning to strut their stuff.  I felt so lucky as I thought about the fact that I didn't have to shovel much snow this year, I hate that job. Well as I was basking in my success, Carol says to me yesterday, I'll bet your gonna want to get a jump on the yard work and start this weekend.  Who is she kidding!! that is the furthest thing from my mind for this weekend. Is she not aware that March Madness is going on...helloooo.  So what do I do now, I have to get out of this yard challenge thing for the sake of basketball.  Oh well I guess it's time to fake they old hamstring injury again.  That will be the 3rd time this year I used that excuse, however my wife has a warm heart and falls for it everytime.  Unless of course she read this..wish me luck..have a great weekendl..I'm starting to limp already!!

You know I'm always looking out for your well being.  I just received this very important bulletin from the Center for Disease Control.  You might want to share it with people you know... CDC Medical Alert The Center for Disease Control Center has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (W.O.R.K). If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises. Take two good friends to the nearest grocery store and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (W.I.N.E.) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (B.E.E.R.). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system... You should immediately forward this medical alert to five friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life.

You guys know I'm the grocery shopper at our house.  Carol hates doing it and I love it, it's kind of a competition for me to see how much money I can save each time I go.  I am the self proclaimed coupon king, I cut'em..I print him..I steal them.  The key is only taking ones you will use, not all of them.  The other key is trying to buy store brands.  For the most part that is ok, however there are certain kinds of food you can't buy the store brand.  Store brand soup is not good, get top shelf.  Store brand English Muffins, they are terrible.  it has to be Thomas's or Pepperidge Farms.   I don't know about you, but I can't buy store brand toliet paper.  I'm afraid it will tear at a inconvenient moment if you know what I mean.  Don't get me started on store brand pop..it's awful.  can you think of others?

Sometimes it seems all you hear about professional football players is negative.  Look what's happening this week with the Broncos.  However most of the players are good guys and great athletes.  To prove my point about being good at what they do, take a look at this video...amazing. Broncos NFL

Did you ever experience some event in you life and then later wonder if it ever happened at all?  Probably not because your guys are normal.  Well, the other morning I'm driving to work, it's 3am.  I drive the same way everyday, which takes me past the grocery store we shop all the time.  I look over and there must 6 fire trucks with the red lights all going, 4 police cars with the lights all going.  I'm thinking the store is burning down as it did a few years ago.  I didn't see any flames or smoke as I drove past.  The next day I go to the store, it appears to be fine.  I start asking some of the employees that I know about what happened, to a person they didn't know what I was talking about.  They looked at me like I was from another planet!!  Then I began to wonder....did I really see what I thought I saw.....or do I need to get more sleep!!  It was so strange.....

Last Sunday I was up at the Broomfield events center for a Susan G. Komen fund raiser with the Rocky Mountain Rage.  Thanks to Jennifer Reifman of the Rage I got to drive their Zamboni machine...what fun.  I took Carol ,who is a Breast Cancer survivor, my granddaughter Caelee and Carrie my daughter.  Between the first and second period they formed the Breast Cancer ribbon on the ice with all the survivors.  The players all wore special jerseys which were auctioned off after the game.  It was special time.. nice job Rocky Mountain Rage. february-2009-032.jpg february-2009-033.jpg

It's hard to believe but my granddaughter is turning 4 today.   I was talking to Caelee yesterday and I asked her what she wanted for her birthday.  Without hesitating she said a new bathing suit and I want to go bowling.  Well you know old PaaPoo will go out today a find her a bathing suit.....somewhere.  I think we will do the bowling thing this weekend.  But how does a 4 year old think like that?

Hey guys take a look at these great pictures with me and Denise.  The folks from the movie..."Confessions of a Shopaholic" which opens this weekend, brought this by.  It is, as you can tell, a hugh block of ice with a gift card from the Cherry Creeks shopping center buried in it.  We had to wait for it to melt to get it out..and no my tongue did not stick to the ice like a cold flagpole. mad-ice1.jpg mad-ice2.jpg mad-ice3.jpg

Here are the pictures to prove I did it, boy that was fun.  I'm going back on the 15th of February and they are going to let me drive the thing... WOW.  If I'm good at it I think I have a future when radio says good-bye.  Thanks again to Jennifer Reifman and gang with the Rage... zamboni1.jpg zamboni2.jpg

baby-girl.jpgGreat news today, our baby Sadie finally arrived at 2am this morning.  Our son Sam and his great wife Sarah are the proud parents.  Sadie is 7 lbs 9 ounces, 19 inches long and head full of black hair, which is Sarah's color.  As you might know, she was a week late and we were getting a bit nervous.  I have to admit Carol and I are spoiled, our first 2 granchildren were born here and we were right there for the whole event.  Well, Sam and Sarah live in the Bay area and we have not been that involved this time.  They have done a great job in calling us with updates and emailing pictures.  It's not the same as having them right down the road.  This was really tough on Carol, so needless to say she had me book a flight for Friday to get out there and meet Sadie.  I will have pictures soon to share, in the mean time I will have to show Sam how to change a diaper.  Ok I wasn't the best, but I tried.  If they were really bad ones I would just hose them down and hope it would wash off!!   KIDDING!!!.. I'll keep you posted.  Thanks for your concern.

hair-apray.jpgI do this feature everyday on our show called 'Around the Watercooler'.  Basically it is little interesting tidbits information or weird stories.  Today I found that over a lifetime a woman will spend about $54,000 on hair products and keeping her hair nice. Are you kidding me! That can't be right, can it?  I can't imagine what you're buying and doing to your hair that is going to add up to that amount. What do you think guys? We might spend a total of $500.00 over a life time on our hair, and that's not including mousse.  I'll bet you're surprised I can spell that word!!  $54,000.. that is just nuts.  How much hairspray do you need?... won't spray Pam work just as well?  With that kind of money I could go to alot of Av's games!!... OH!.. but that is about me!!.. never mind!!

What a day of history it is today.  This is a day no matter what your political beliefs are you put them aside and take in the history.  I studied alot of history in school and I have to admit I never thought I would see an African-American president in my time.  I don't why we wouldn't but I'm glad to witness it happening.  I know things will return to business tomorrow, but let us take in the day all on one page together.  We are due some good feelings don't you agree?  I know change is tough but let's give president Obama a chance before we start pointing fingers and saying I told you so. let's face it he has a tough job ahead.  obamainaug350.jpg

I just got off the phone with my son, Sam, who lives in San Francisco.  I told you he and his wife Sarah are expecting their first child any day now.  This is that time of life ,parents ,we all look forward to, that time when our children actually ask for our advice and they...listen.  The poor guy is a wreck, the baby is late, his wife is very uptight, what do I do.  I told him to take a deep breath..relax..she is depending on you for help.  Take her for a walk to get started, thats what I did with Carol when it was time for Sam to be born.  Buy her a pepperoni and onion pizza that worked once for one of our daughters.  But mainly be the support guy now. Then when you get a chance , when she is sleeping, go into the closet downstairs and scream into your coat pocket so she can't hear you.  It really feels good!!

Well here are again, another Christmas and New Year.  I hope this will be a wonderful holiday season for you and your family.  Reflect back on the year, did you accomplish all you had set as goals?  It's hard to do it all, but don't be discouraged you have a new year ahead.  Enjoy your family and be thankful for what you have.  Let's all make 2009 a kinder year to all, try to look out and not look in if you know what I mean.  There are plenty of others worse off than you.  I know that might sound like a cliche but it is true.  I'll see you after the new year.  Remember the words of my mom..don't cry over it if it can't cry over you. Of course that does not fit in here, but I did remember the words..mom would be proud!

As you know by now I love to have fun.  Life is to short not to have a good time while you are here.  I hope I'm teaching this philosophy to granddaughter, Caelee.  As you can tell by the picture we are having a great time together.  What a gift from God she is, she has my sense of humor and her grandma's brains. I get to babysit her quite often and when my daughter or her father pick her up they are alway curious as to what I taught her that day.  Well based on this picture you know what kind of day it was. caelee1.jpg

delilahkosi-010x.jpg delilahkosi-012x.jpg Our wonderful evening host on KOSI, Delilah, was in town for a book signing at the Tattered Cover in Lodo. We had a small private gathering with her before the signing and it was super. She is everything you think she is by listening to her, very real. I loved the fact she has the same on-the-air morals as me. We won't touch certain subjects or talk about possible clients, if they don't fit the family image we strive for. She has 10 children and 5 grandchildren and loves them all very much. If you have not listened to her on KOSI, you should. The phone calls alone are worth the time.

It was a wonderful heart warming experience to be part of the adventure. We were wondering ,with the state of the economy, how it would go, you guys never let us down. It was great that Rocky the nuggets guy came by with some of the Nuggets dancers. Ian Lapierre of the Av,s called us from on the road in Calgary to cheer us on, what a great guy. The big thrill was quaterback Jay Cutler came by to urge us on and say HI to the kids. Jackie Selby and I got to talk to him as you can tell by the pictures above, what a great young man and yes girls he is single. We made life very comfortable or as comfortable as it can be with a child in the hospital for a lot of families...thanks to you

I know we are a far piece from Christmas but with the nice weather this weekend I'm thinking of putting up the outside Christmas lights.  Do you think I'm to early or very smart for doing it now when the weahter is still decent?  No i'm not going to turn them on until Thanksgiving night, but to get that job out of the way now would be sweet.  My neighbors don't appreciate it because they say it puts pressure on them to get the done.  But if I have Caelee, my granddaughter, help me maybe they won't come over the harass me.  Oh what the heck I'm going for it..I'll let you know how it turns out.

dscn0036×1.jpg Well today is the day, all the madness will end and we will have a new president. I don't care at this point who it is, I just hope we will all get on the same page and straighten this place out.  Let all the bad feelings end and work together.  Now on a lighter note, how was your halloween.  Do you have as much candy left over as I do, it won't go away.  It seems to be multipling right before my eyes.  If I eat another Reese's Peanut Butter Cup I will begin to smell like one.  How many calories are there in one of those?  I better not look, I don't know if I can take the pressure.  Oh well, take a look at cute those grand children of mine are.  Greyson was a duck, Caelee was a life guard during the beginning of the day and changed to become a frog..just like a woman always changing!!...HA

In the picture above are Sister Mary Ellen, Sister Sue, Sister Janet and Brother Gary.  They are part of  the brain trust of the school, as you know Carol teaches kindergarten there.  If you didn't make it this month maybe we will see you next month.

So I talked about this the other day on the air but it is still freaking me out a bit.  Carol and I were leaving the AV's game last Saturday after a big win over Buffalo.  Right behind me was a Buffalo fan, talking about how many Buffalo fans there were at the game.  I turned to agree , he kind of laughed , and said sure but you guys still won.  I told him we used to live in Erie, Pa. just down the road from Buffalo.  We spent alot of time there and loved the city and the people.  This guy says to me I used to live in Erie, when were you there.  I told him the years and it was the same time he was there.  He asks where I worked, I told the station, WRIE.  He says he listened to that station, who was I?  I told him my radio name was Mike Murphy, well he about falls down. He says he always listened and wondered what happened to me.  I told him I'm using my real name now and working on KOSI, hopefully Jim is listening to us now.  Small world....

The Mind of Murphy

As you know a couple of weeks ago we went to San Francisco to visit my son and his wife.  I love where they live, Mill Valley, just over the Golden Gate Bridge.  They are expecting their first child in January and we are all very excited.  As you can tell by the picture Sarah  doesn't look that pregnant , but it is all out front.  From the back you can't tell, but when she turns around OH BOY she is pregnant.  We were in Napa valley, what a great place. Sam and Sarah were married there 3 years ago and we went back to visit the scene of the crime.  we held the rehearsal at the only brew pub in wine country and it was great.  The guy who owns it is from Golden, Micheal, needless to say we hit off big time.

Well it's almost over, no I don't mean the nice weather, which is true.  I mean this prolonged election and all that goes with it.  I don't how you are voting, if it is a ballot at home or in the booth you had better be prepared.  Carol and I have the at home ballot, which takes the pressure off of staring at the machine and trying to figure everything out with about 200 voters waiting impatiently to vote, now that's pressure.  Either way do your homework, with all the Issues and amendments and what they mean it is hard to keep it straight.  By the way won't it be great to get all those silly yard signs out of your neighbors yard, man I'm sick of seeing those.  What do you do with those old signs anyhow?  No I said WHAT do you with with them, not WHERE to put them.  Besides do you think they would fit up there?

I can tell by the emails that all of you are getting tired of the election.  You don't like the fact we have to play all of the political ads.  Believe me we are not that happy either, but we have no choice.  We have to sell the air time by law.  If they can pay the rate we have to let them on, so hang in there it will be over soon.  Why does it have to get so negative, thats what really chaps me.  Why can't they just stick to the issues and leave the personal stuff out of it.  Do you really think with whats going on out there that anybody can make a difference right away anyway?  We will blasted with political retoric filled with excuses as to why things aren't getting done.  But hang in there it will be over soon...

fallcolors2.jpeg fallcolors1.jpeg  I hope you like the pictures up above from last weekend.  Carol and I were returning from Winter Park going over Berthoud pass..WOW what colors.  I know I took those while driving over the pass, a little crazy but worth it.  We were in Winter Park for our anuual reunion with other parents of Cherry Creek High School football players.  Our boys all played together and won the state championship two years in a row.  Needless to say we have great memories to talk about.  I really love the part where we all catch up with our boys and what they are doing today.  It's amazing how many different paths they have taken, including our son Sam who is now about to become a father for the first time.  We spent so much time together for so many years in a row and now everyone is scattered all over the world.  It was great fun, try it some time .  Reach out to friends you haven't seen for a while, you will be better off for it.

The Mind of Murphy

I'm beginning to think I have a natural attraction to animals.  I have the strangest things happen to me when it comes to animals.  Last night I was sitting downstairs watching the baseball playoff game.  I had left our back door wide open, as I often do, so the dogs can come and go as they want.  All of a sudden , without notice, our neighbors cat, Laura jumps up on the couch as I'm peacefully sitting there.  Laura runs the neightborhood, but I had no idea she would just walk in the house and scare the you know what right out of me.  Where were the dogs when this was going on?  Good question, I think all three of them work in sort of gang.  The dogs just let her sneak into the house without making one little bark.  What a bunch of practical jokers..animals..what next.

Well I've done it, I can't believe I did it but I did.  I actually sat at my computer and e-mailed at TV show.  The other day I was watching Ellen, I really like her show.  But lately with every celebrity guest she has on she will ask them what they think of the election.  At first It didn't matter, if you are like me I don't care what they say anyhow.  But on Tuesday she had Sharon Osborne on, who I normally like, and she asked her about the election.  Well she went off on Sarah Palin like I had never heard before, it was down right rude.  I started to get aggrevated when I thought is she even a citizen of the U.S.  I don't think so.  What right does she have to go off like that, soooo I jumped on my computer and e-mailed Ellen.  I have not had a response, like I expected one.  Was I wrong ?  or should I do what my wife says...just tune it out

hairybacksx.jpg hairybackinitiatex.jpgJust got back from a wonderful golf trip to New Mexico with the Hairy Backs.  You know that group of crazy guys I golf with all the time.  I've included some action photos of the big event, including the initiation of a new Hairy Back.  You just don't expect to play with us you have to go through a ritual.  This year we broke in Dave, he is the guy wearing the funny costume which  made him wear while playing.  Yea I know it's like a older guys fratenity, all of the members are from different walks of life.  The thing is we all get along, we don't talk shop, we love our families, and enjoy the golf time.  Yes some are better golfers than others but that does not matter, it's all about the time together.  I think it is good if we all have time like this and if you don't start something.  It can be anything, life is to short not to develop a little outside of the family fun.  You will have to come up with another name as the Hairy Backs is taken. Well if your name is Mary or some other girls name Hairy Backs might not be right for your group..see ya

Sat Sept 20

caelee afraid to touch the Skink Greyson touching the Skink We had a wonderful day at the zoo on saturday.  It was the member's breakfast with the animals and of course Carol and I took the whole family.  It started early so we got to eat and watch all the animals eat as well.  We are so lucky to have such a great zoo here.  After we ate we walked around and saw all the animals and their eating habits.  Plus they had lots of hands on exhibits for young and old alike.  As you can tell by the pictures my two grandchildren Caelee and Greyson were into it.  However when they had a chance to touch a Blue-Tongued Skink, so typical, Caelee would have nothing to do with it ,but Greyson couldn't touch it enough.  What a great day we had together, I'm so blessed to have my family here.  Also if you get a chance go to the zoo its is a great place.

The Mind of Murphy

With my schedule I get alot of alone time at home, Carol teaches school so she is gone more than me.  Yes I know I have my two dog friends to talk with and they always listen with great intent.  However I find that I really miss my best friend to talk with, Carol my wonderful wife.  I've known her since we were 15, married 37 years, my best friend.  I sit around most of the afternoon with great anticipation to talk with her about anything and everything.  Of course by the time she gets home she is exhausted after a day with 17 kindergarteners.  But bless her, she will sit there and just let me ramble on about the day , work, politics, kids, anything.  I've had all day to let it build-up, you know the feeling and it just flows out.  She never complains, she just listens and then offers her little suggestions which always make me feel good.  Of course I'm such a loser most days I don't ask about her day, she does not seem to mind.  She is such a giver and a reciever, never complains how can I be so blessed to have this woman in my life ,all my life.  That's what best friend and lovers do for each other, I think I better start picking up my end of the deal.  But if I don't she won't complain she just always seems to understand , this is one of many reasons I'm looking forward to another 37 years with my Carol who I love dearly

You've been e-mailing me about the new video on our web page.  If you haven't seen it yet, go to our M.A.D. tube section and look at the video about the size of my head.  Gov our producer put this together because he, and many others , are always teasing me about the size of my head.  Thanks for sticking -up for me, but it is true, I have a hugh head.  The last time I really checked it is over a size 8!  Good luck trying to find a hat the size, you know the pro-back kind of hats.  You also know I'm a hat kind of guy and all those hats say adjustable to any size are a joke. Who can where those hats only normal people like you...not me!  I remember playing baseball as a young lad and trying to find a team hat that fit, NO WAY!  I would put one on, usually the biggest one in the box.  It looked like one of those cup cake wrappers on top of a basketball, I never have lived it down.  So I appreciate you sticking up for me about the video but it is true I have a huge noggin. To quote Mike Meyers from that crazy movie "So I Married an Ax Muderer"..my head is a virtual planetoid.....I have learned to live with it..

Can you guys help me with a little question.  When you shop at your grocery store and you are purchasing some of those 10 for 10 deals how does that work?  Are you only allowed to buy 10 total 10 for 10 items or can you buy 10 each of all the 10 for 10 items?  I always get nervous when I check out that I've done it wrong.  I just know the check-out person is going to set off some sort of loud alarm and get on the PA system yelling "I've caught another cheater on register 8".  Everyone is staring at you, you're punished by having to clean out the dairy case.  I know I could ask one of the workers but it's like having to ask for directions.  There is not a guy out there who is going to do that!  I've been lucky so far...never busted, I guess I'm doing it right.  The thing is I'm not sure what I'm doing...10 for 10, it's some kind of trap.  I pride myself on being a great grocery shopper, this makes me question my judgement.  Hey, don't even get me started on 10 lbs. for 10, I don't even know what that means!!

Is it just me or has the media turned on Sarah Palin like a bunch of Great White's.  This is the lady as of 3 weeks ago was the relatively unknown govenor of Alaska who is now the relatively unknown vice-presidential candidate of the Republican party.  Instead of congratulating her on being the first woman of the Republican party to ever achieve such an honor ,the press is attacking her for all kinds of reasons.  I understand most of them, however we just learned that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant and will marry the father of the baby.  OH BOY!, this was like blood in the water.  The press for the most part is all over this story, even Mr. Obama  even told them to back off as he is the son of an 18 year old mom.  Why can't they concentrate on Mrs. Palin's experience or if she would make a good vice-president and leave the family alone.  This is not our business, her political stance is.  It's like all the media is working for the National Inquirer. Do you really want more on this story? I think not. It might be more of our business to know how she cooks a mooseburger, I understand she does eat them.

The Mind of Murphy

Do you own a dog?  If you do let me ask you this.  Do you ever feel like the thing is making fun of you, mocking you.  I love my 2 Dumb Friends League beasts, Dublin and Bailey.  You've heard me talk about them before on the air.  Dublin is the alpha female, Bailey is just a big good ole boy.  We've had these 2 for a couple of years now and I love them dearly, they are my friends.  Well, the last couple of weeks a few things have happened with them and I'm convinced they are making fun of me.  I got up from my precious nap they other day and here is Dublin actually chewing on my shoe!  She has never done that before.  When I began to lecture her I swear she made a noise that sounded like a laugh!  I couldn't believe it, could she have just laughed at me?  I just walked away in disbelief.  Then on Monday I was doing the back yard cleaning thing, I always get that job.  I'm about half way done when I glance back to where I had already cleaned and here is Bailey doing his deed again!  I start to walk at him, a little steamed when I swear he stuck his tongue at me, I couldn't believe it!  He finished and just walked away.  Now either I need a week at the Aurora home for the strange or my friends are picking on me.  I think I'll just lay low for awhile

The Mind of Murphy

There is a lot of excitement in town this week with the DNC going on.  I hope you treat this an historical experience and not as a bother to your life.  I know you can't experience all that is going on first hand but I can tell you is is interesting.  Denice and I have been trying to get around as much as possible biu the security is unreal.  One thing you can do as a family and I reccomend is "The Presidential Experience" set up in the parking lot of Mile High stadium.  It is all about the highest office in the land, lots of interesting history here for the whole family.  I especially enjoyed the life size set-up of the oval office and the section of Air Force One that was used by many presidents.  As you can see by the picture of me and Denise in the plane I am the president and she is the first lady.  Of course you probably think it is the other way around, she is the president .  What would that make me, the first Man?  Her personal assistant, of I know, something of a court jester if there was such a thing..I'll say no more.  Check this event out it is worth the few bucks it costs.. mdairforceone.jpeg

what is it about the olympics that gets you so involved, I mean you watch for hours, stay up way later than you normally would. Heres what amazes me about the whole thing, if you are like me you end up watching and cheering for sports you would never watch. Whens the last time your cheered for diving, badmitton, beach volleyball, shooting, rowing, horse jumping, water polo and more. You would never watch those things outside of the olympics, but here you are cheering away and half the time the USA isn't even playing! Maybe that is why it is such a world thing, we all come together to cheer for each other even if your hometown favorite is not playing. It's a good feeling, why can't have that feeling all the time. Am I wrong but wouldn't that make the world a better place? I don't know, but I do know I love the stories that come from the olympics, some are warm and fuzzy while others are sad. It's good for the kids to watch, I've always said to my kids that sports is life, you learn how to handle failure and success. How to work with others, how to take direction, how to handle change and lots more. I'm sad to see it end but before you know it another 4 years will pass and we can all stay up way to late and cheer for sports we don't even know again.

We had a chance to give back to the community this week, we being my fellow employees here at Entercom communications.  We call it "Make a Difference Day" and it is done company wide across America.  We do this every year and when it comes up your first reaction is ...I don't have enough time for this, but then you feel quilty because we all talk about giving back and paying it forward.  So we all headed down to the VOA mission on Lawerence st.  Our job was do combine all the school supplies from "Stuff for Students" that we did last week with 9 News.  BY the way thanks for your support with that project it went very well, so much so we had to organize about 200,000  school supplies!  I'm so glad we did this, not only was it a great feeling to helping so many children get these supplies but it was a blast to get to know my fellow employees away from work.   You know how that is, you work with people all day but do you really know them.  When you do a worth-while project like this you see another side of people, a warm side we all have but maybe don't have the opportunity to bring out. Maybe you should try a "Make A Difference Day" where you work, it might completely change how you think of certain people you work with.  Besides you will feel great helping other people...take a look at these pictures... murphymakeadiffpose.jpg UH...I have no comment on uhm, this. makeadiffcrew.jpg The whole Entercom crew came out! murphymakeadiffcass.jpg Murphy and Cassidy all lovey dovey.

murphytrophy.jpg I know most of you are totally into the olympics as I am.  But I had to brag on myself a bit, I mean I play alot of golf and never win anything.  So when I won the media cup last month from the Children's Classic at Perry Park I had to show you.  Ok there were only 4 media types playing and two were women, but after factoring in their handicaps I still won by two strokes..it was a miracle.  After I was told I won I could hear the olympic theme playing, the crowd was shouting, no not USA but MURPHY...MURPHY..I loved it.  Well that didn't really happen but a guy can dream can't he?  Please share the glory with me, besides I have to defend my title next year and will probably get killed...unless I fill the score out ahead of time!!!...just kidding

Are you getting nervous about the DNC coming to town?  If you keep up with the news it sounds overwhelming all that is planned, all the security.  If you are like many you will be leaving town, not me I can't wait to see the whole circus.  Not so much the political part of  the week, just all the wacko's who will be coming to town.  You know down town will be loaded with strange folks all with some sort of agenda they want to get across.  It will be better than any TV you could watch.  I will be sharing all that I see for those that leave town, starting with the fact that Oprah has rented a house in Cherry Creek for $50.000 for the week...how crazy is that.  Ok I admit I tried to talk Carol into trying to rent our house for the week and goin to the mountains, she would have nothing to do with that.  I told my neighbors my idea, they looked at me like I had consumed to much liquid made from the Blue Agave plant if you know what I mean.  Carol told to buy a tent and head to city park if I want to get close to the action.  So if you are passing the park sometime during the big event and you see a tent with KOSI on it..you know who.  If only I could come up with a way to make money off this deal...maybe I could sell something I would like to give to all politcians.. truth serum.

Isn't vacation the best? I know it never seems to last very long but it is still good.  Last week my ederly parents put their nerves aside and flew out to see the family, it was great.  It's hard to see your parents grow old, mine are in their 80's, but  the spirit is still there.  You might wonder where I get my silliness, well look no further then my dad.  I took him to Bronco training camp on Tuesday, if you have ever been to Dove Valley you know th spectaors sit on a small hillside very close to the action.  As I was helping my dad down the field to sit down and take in the action, he stops and announces on the top of his lungs that he is the only Chicago Bears fan here.  Everybody got a big chuckle and decided to humor an old man.  However as my dad shouts this out ,of course I kind of duck my head and turn only to look up and see none other than Bronco great Champ Bailey standing about 15 feet away with a big smile on his face.  He had obviously heard my dad make his loyality statement to the Bears and he stood there with a big grin on his face, I made my dad turn to look and Champ gave him a big tumbs-up, it was a special moment.  However my dad says to me who was that, I told him the great Champ Bailey... long pause..he says WHO?  Oh well he is a Bears fan and he is 86, but I love him... we had a blast.

How are you enjoying the heat? How many times over the past few days have you been asked that question.  How do you respond?  There are many ways I guess.  My favorite was the guy I heard at the grocery store when he said, "Well, at least I don't have to shovel it". They both had a good laugh over that one.  I always get a kick out of the people who say during a hot spell "at least it's a dry heat".  Isn't 100 degrees a 100 degress no matter where you live? I think I'm going to start some new responses, like: it's as hot as a microwave oven on at full blast.  How about: it's as hot as a dad can get when his dughters date pulls up in a van ...I've felt that heat before.  This might be a stretch: It's as hot as I'm going to get with all the road closures during the DNC... that might start a car fire.  Well stay cool, enjoy whats left of the summer because you know before to long, you will have to shovel it.

cortona400.jpg This is just a quick update for all of you about my daughter, Lizz, and her husband.  I mentioned last time they were in Italy, well here is a picture of loving couple.  WOW, that looks like a great place.  Should I be jealous they got there before me and Carol... oh well.  Lizz said they have sent two cases of wine to our house because they know we don't drink wine and to hide it from her sisters so it will be safe.  Yea...good luck with that, I've got one word for her... EBAY.

I'm starting this new section of the Murphy and Denise page called the "Mind of Murphy".  The idea is just some of my musings about life and maybe the occasional picture from my cell phone, oh! won't those be special.  I hope you enjoy some of the stuff and don't be afraid to email me back with comments.  I was talking to Denise the other day about one of the hardest things with having grown children, It really isn't hard just a bit bizarre. It is the fact that when we go out  to eat or attend a movie or something involving the spending of money, as a dad, I'm in such a habit of just paying as I have for so many years it is just hard for me to get used to the fact my children now offer to and do most of the time.  It is a great thing don't get wrong but somehow I think it is a trick and I'm going to get a bill later or something.  I guess as they grow and take on that responsibility I just need to do the same thing. I'm blessed that all 4 of children have jobs and can pay, I guess I'll just focus on the grandchildren they'll take my money.  Talk to you soon
