Wear Red Day Raises Awareness To Reduce Heart Disease In Women

Are you wearing your red today? Today, February 1, is Wear Red Day with the American Hear Association and we all wore our red to support awareness to help fight heart disease in woman at KOSI 101.1. We have many events going on here throughout the day including a visit from Chef Jason Morse from the Colorado Beef Council and Executive Chef for Douglas County Schools cooking up some lean cuts of beef for us.

February Is National Heart Month - A Few Facts About Heart Health In Women

  • Heart disease is the number one killer of women, so this day and this month are very important
  • 90% of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease
  • Currently, about 8 million women are living with heart disease

Lean Beef Can Be A Part Of A Heart Healthy Diet - Lean Beef Facts

  • Great source of protein
  • 18 of the top 25 cuts of beef are LEAN
  • A recent study found the an optimal lean diet found that eating lean beef daily as part of a heart-healthy diet lowered LDL or "bad" cholesterol by 10%
  • Lean cuts of beef include T-bone, Top Sirloin, Beef Tenderloin and more
