I know that I sometimes go off on things that don't really matter. But this time I would like to talk about Mother's day, I hope you had a great day. I wanted to talk about the mother of my four children, my wife Carol. I don't know where I would be today without my beautiful wife Carol, she is truly the backbone of our family and the best mother in the world. It really hi met this past Sunday, we have grown children who are having their own children now. When I saw them on Sunday and how they are teaching their children it really dawned on me what a great influence Carol has been as their mother. I thought to myself as I was observing their time with their children how good they were and loving. Hey where did that come from, one word..Carol. So moms as you teach your children along the road of life and you wonder is it working! Just wait to a time when you observe them with their children it will become clear you did a good job, Thank you Carol..I love you..Murphy

You go through life and a few things that happen really stick out. One of those events happened on Monday the 5th, it was the "Quarters For Kids" wrap up breakfast at String's restaurant. You know about Quarter's, it is kids helping kids in a homeless shelter get a breakfast they might not get. So kids in various schools around Colorado come up with ways to raise quarters with the help of their teachers. I know it's hard to believe but a quarter will feed a child in a homeless shelter a breakfast. On Monday all the kids , with their teachers brought their quarters to Strings for the wrap up. What always gest to me and it has all the years I've been involed with this fund raiser, is the look of excitement on the kids faces when they bring up their quarters to drop in this huge bin. The sound of all those quarters hitting inside the bin makes us all smile and laugh at how many children they are helping. The kids raise all different amounts of quarters, it dosen't matter the smiles are always the same, they know they are helping someone. Someone they don't even know, I think that is agreat lesson to learn at such a young age..paying it forward. Thats a great lesson to learn at anytime in life, don't you think so...Murphy

This does not come from the mind of Murphy, this is the mind of Jeff Foxworthy. The idea being you live in Colorado if......
I will just share a few that you can share with your friends.
If you've worn shorts and a parke at the same time you live in Colorado
If you install security lights on your house and garage but leave both unlocked, you live in colorado
If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of anow during a raging blizzard without flilnching, you live in Colorado
If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in colorado
if vacation means going anywhere south of Denver for the weekend, you live in Colorado
If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed the wrong number, you live in Colorado
and finally, If you design you kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you live in Colorado.....Enjoy!!...Murphy

I hope you all had a great weekend, wasn't the weather spectacular! I took my granddaughter, Caelee, to see the "Elmo Live" show. I think she is too much like me, a real ham bone. About half-way through the show after she has sung along with all the songs she knows from the show. She turns to me and says Papoo, that is what she calls me, will you tell Elmo to invite me down to the stage to sing with him. Now keep in mind she is 3 years old, I start laughing and stand-up to start to dance with her in the aisle. Well as I start to do that I ;ook over at my daughter Carrie, the mother of this brillant child, I get this look that sends a flashback through my dwindling brain.
I can remember the days when Carrie and her siblings would hate going to Target with me when they were young. They knew that at anytime I would break into song or dance to the overhead music in the store. OH did they hate that and I would get this look, yes the one I got on Saturday when I started to dance with Caelee. Of course you know that didn't stop me, it didn't then and won't now. The only difference is that back when they were young and I did my thing they would all run and hide cause they were totally embarassed. Now they just roll their eyes and put up with it. It's nice to know I still have some control over them as they get older...have a great day...Murphy

I'm starting this new section of the Murphy and Denise page called the "Mind of Murphy". The idea is just some of my musings about life and maybe the occasional picture from my cell phone, oh! won't those be special. I hope you enjoy some of the stuff and don't be afraid to email me back with comments. I was talking to Denise the other day about one of the hardest things with having grown children, It really isn't hard just a bit bizarre. It is the fact that when we go out to eat or attend a movie or something involving the spending of money, as a dad, I'm in such a habit of just paying as I have for so many years it is just hard for me to get used to the fact my children now offer to and do most of the time. It is a great thing don't get wrong but somehow I think it is a trick and I'm going to get a bill later or something. I guess as they grow and take on that responsibility I just need to do the same thing. I'm blessed that all 4 of children have jobs and can pay, I guess I'll just focus on the grandchildren they'll take my money. Talk to you soon
