Man Versus Food Versus Instagram
Adam Richman, star of “Man Vs. Food,” has had his new show – called “Man Finds Food” – yanked from the Travel Channel’s line-up.
That's what the promo looked like, before an Instagram feud that started innocently enough. Adam posted a picture of his newer, trimmer self with the caption: “Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I’m gonna need to take it in a little…” So far, so good.
Then he went a little hashtag crazy, including the term #thinspiration. And that’s where things went wrong, with a war of words that threatened to blow up Instagram and Twitter.
Some folks complained about the use of the term, as it’s often used to characterize eating disorders. Adam was having none of it. His responses were rude and downright obscene. He invited one commenter to eat a bag of dog waste and another to commit suicide. Among other things.
He later apologized with an official statement to ABC News, saying he does know better and should never have done with he did.
Not good enough for the Travel Channel, which had planned the new show’s premiere for last night.
Let that be a lesson to you, kids. You’ve got to watch your hashtags!
