Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers
The sunshine is finally beginning to poke its head out in Denver! It is time to hit the pool, go to the park, and visit with friends outdoors. However, it is also time to talk about the risks that come from being exposed to the sun. Just one blistering sunburn sustained as a kid can more than double your melanoma risk which is the deadliest type of skin cancer. Although melanoma occurs much less often than more skin cancers, its incidence is on the rise, especially among men older than 50 and young women 15- 29 years old. Here are a few tips from the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center on how you can be sun smart: Use a broad spectrum sunscreen that blocks all ultraviolet rays with an SPF of 30 or higher every day, don’t forget lip balm with SPF, avoid tanning booths, learn the ABCDEs of melanoma and once a month check your skin head-to-toe looking for changes in freckles, moles, and birthmarks, and If you find something see your doctor immediately. If the diagnosis is melanoma Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers’ experienced physicians are here to help, offering the most advanced treatment options. To learn more visit Rockymountaincancercenters.com! Enjoy the sun and be smart about it!
