This year Girl Scouts will sell cookies on the spot to their eager customers during door-to-door sales instead of the traditional order now, get your cookies later system of the past. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series is a project of the Avon Foundation for Women, a 501(c)(3) public charity. The Avon Walk is a non-competitive weekend-long fund-raising walks for all fitness levels. Each of the nine Avon Walks across the country offer participants a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over a weekend.
The Avon Foundation awards the funds raised to local, regional and national breast cancer organizations that help men and women get the medical care they need—regardless of their ability to pay—and accelerates the work of leading research teams in their quest for improved prevention, detection and treatment, and ultimately a cure for breast cancer. Since its start in 2003, the Avon Walk series has raised more than $423 million.
Angels with Paws is dedicated to finding loving families for homeless cats. They will provide humane, quality care and shelter for all cats we receive. They operate a cage-free friendly environment providing medical and rehabilitation services when needed. They are part of a network of caring people that reaches far and wide and will work with local organizations in the metro Denver area to reduce pet overpopulation by promoting the necessity to spay and neuter.
